Thanks for the tips everyone. Not unlike our first trip to St John, there is lots to sort through. We're looking to go next summer and have a specific week we must rent a house so the planning starts now so we can get the right place for the right week. There's nothing like vacation planning! :)

Sleeping Bear Dunes?

Hello, I'm looking for some trip advice and thought I'd ask this well traveled group of forumites who seem to possess a wealth of information. Unfortunately, St John is out of the question for our group this time around so we're trying to plan a trip to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in ...

Sanibel

I love Sanibel! I go almost every year and it never gets old. You MUST go on the Sanibel Thriller for their dolphin trip, it is fantastic. On Captiva go to the Bubble Room for fun (and desserts that are to die for...Orange Crunch Cake is something else), and catch sunset at the Mucky Duck. If you ha...

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies. Lots to think about for sure. We are not even close to any of those real housewives. I'm calling this trip "A Midlife Crisis Done Right". This is going to be a real laid back adventure. I want us all to take the time to stop being super moms/super wives/super worker...

St John....or? Need advice for ladies only trip

Hello forumites! I'm planning a birthday trip...for myself...I'm selfish like that. What I'm looking for is a place that will do everything for me and 10 or 15 of my best friends. I found Spring House in Bequia where all we need to do is show up. All food, transportation, maid/butler/chef ser...

Destin, etc

We are not booked yet. Still trying to figure out what area we want to plop ourselves in. We're looking for the beaches, the less people the better. I'd like to park my ample bottom on some nice clean white sand and spend the day with a book and an icy beverage. A little water frolic is nice too. We...

Any Destin, FL friends on here?

We're making a trip to Texas in July and are driving from Virginia. Since I won't be in St John in 2010 I need a beach fix somewhere! So, we've decided to make a pitstop in Destin for 2-3 days. I know next to nothing about the area. Can anyone recommend an area we should look at? It doesn't have to ...

Thanks, Mrs Pete, for posting this question. I find this all fascinating. We've all got our baggage, good and bad, and it makes us who we are today. This discussion has reminded me yet again how very different, and yet how very similar we all are to one another. Kumbaya....

parents

For me, it wasn't until I was an adult. My parents both died ten years ago (at 54 and 57)and I was SO happy that I came to a point myself when I realized that right or wrong they did the best they could while raising my siblings and me. I don't know that I came out and actually said to them "it...

Outer Banks

I second the Emerald Isle suggestion. We've done both the traditional Outer Banks area and Emerald Isle and EI is just more our speed. Not as crowded, quiet, and LOTS of beautiful beaches. From there we also took a short drive to Beaufort and took a boat to Shackleford Banks and saw the wild horses ...

Please post...

Oh, PA Girl, please post some pretty fall colors. Everything is very dull here in No Virginia. I think the lack of rain for weeks and months is keeping the pretty foliage at bay. Bummer. I grew up in Minnesota and we got some gorgeous fall colors...I miss it.

Bullies, Part Deux

There are definitely "bullies" on both sides of this fence. I am generally a "right leaning" person and many times I have seen comments on this forum that rub me the wrong way, but I'm a bit of a coward and just didn't want to deal with any backlash so I keep my opinions to mysel...

Perelandra

We stayed at Perelandra last July. When we were there the villa was air conditioned only in the bedroom. We LOVED the villa (and the gorgeous views, and the privacy in the pool area) but we were very uncomfortable in the rest of the house due to the heat. When we were there we didn't have any breeze...

lprof...as my kids say, you're "da bomb". Thanks for the help!

I'll go back to pretending to work diligently, but in my mind I'm in the Caribbean. Can't wait for some lunch time surfing.

In the last week or two someone posted a list of some of the blogs they follow. It was a list of about four or five of them and they poster rated them in the order they liked them. One of them was Gringo which is about a couple that moved to T&C (I already follow this one)...I'd like to look at ...
