I am doing my 'dream job' of maintaining villas for a very classy villa management company. Today(Saturday)my wife and I went to a villa of angry guests to work on their "list". We decided they don't "get it" like you all understand about STJ. That is sad but we like what we do. ...

Take South Shore road out of town past the Marketplace. At the basketball court take a right. After the top of hill there is some nice villas facing STT. That road ends at the top of Jacobs Ladder.

Very few mosquitos- too dry. No-see-ums are here. Usually start around 4pm or so unless there is a good breeze.

If you are going to Trunk or Cinnamon, you can take the National Park road down from Centerline. Its probably not quicker- and won't even FEEL quicker (although its a "shortcut") but it is an interesting way to get to Northshore.

That would be quite a trip from Vie's. From the campground it wouldn't be too bad. And there is another tiny beach right after that. But Augie's is probably best. That Long Bay Beach has alot of interesting snorkeling. There are just "islands" of coral out around the moorings and a real ni...

This kinda provides a technical answer: tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov.
There is a Caribbean tab and you'll find Lameshur Bay as option. It's around 79-82deg. Its probably alittle cooler on North Shore with all the high surf we've had.

We went to Vieques last spring for 4 days or so- Esperanza. It actually had pretty good snorkling in that bay. And the population per mile on the island is similar to STJ- just in Spanish.
If you go, the Biobay is a must. Take the tour that is a kayak. I think it was "Abe's Tours".

Scheduled fogging for mosquitoes was done yesterday on STJ. It was kinda weird drive down Centerline just after dark last night- low visibility.
