We definitely feel your pain - we live in northern Michigan and we have had 260" of snow this season with record low temps. The upside is that we had great skiing and if anyone saw the 'Leelanau Ice Caves' on the news, that is where we live so we had the extraordinary experience of seeing that....

We had also expected airfares around $650-750 for our trip in late March but I got lucky and had a farewatcher from Detroit - STT starting March 30. Snagged airfare for us and our daughters for $484 RT. Didn't think twice and booked it. Haven't been back since last summer so we are very excited.

We go for Carnival every year and have had great weather for the most part--like an earlier post said, the ferry dock area where Festival Village is set up is a bustling place during Festival week, and there is a fantastic parade on the 4th of July with amazing fireworks out over Cruz Bay. Great trip report Susan! We love the Bahamas - if you liked Compass Point, be sure to check out the Abacos - our favorite place in the Bahamas! Little out islands, small resorts and cottages, awesome beaches and water! Our favorite island is Elbow Cay but we also love Green Turtle Cay.

We just returned from a stay at Cruz Views #3 and loved it - they have done a wonderful job with the unit--the kitchen is redone, the living room furniture is new and it has a beautiful large garden shower that I absolutely love. Ha ha that is funny! They were from St. John Brewers and they do indeed have the 'VI" finger sign, and they say VI Pride. St. John Brewers handed them out at the Carnival Parade last week (along with beads and free beer! ) We brought ours home and it is sitting on the deck.
