Other Favorite Destinations?

We're trying to figure our where to go with our two kids (5 and 9) in March. St John is always on the top of our list, but after seven visits, we're thinking of trying another island (but not St Croix since we've been there). We're wondering what other islands those who have been to St John would re...

Re: Travel Insurance Recommendations?

It looks like the original poster found insurance, but I also recommend Travelguard. We used them for a trip to Hawaii last summer since my parents are elderly. The only reason I would have cancelled was if they were sick or had passed away. They were ok, but my luggage was lost. Travelguard took ov...

Cool Breeze always gave us 10% off when we mentioned we were return customers. They were nice to work with.

We took the boat across to Hotel on the Cay last year when we were are STX. The beach is nice there. Hotel didn't look too fancy, but a great value with the deal you posted.

Bug Bites?

I get eaten alive by the sand flees and mosquitoes everytime we go to STJ. I'm hoping they're a bit better this spring. Any advice on what sprays, etc work best?

We took DD at almost 3 years (pregnant with DS) DD4 & DS 7 mos DD6 & DS3 DD7 & DS4 next trip DD8 DS almost 5 It was such a pain when they weren't potty trained and dealing with all the gear that we had to bring. So I probably wouldn't go again with a 1 year old. Once DS was out of diaper...

We always rented on STJ until our last trip (#6), we rented from Amalie and they were wonderful. It was so easy, Magadalena and her husband (the owners) met us at the airport with the brand new 4 door Wrangler and paperwork (the Jeep only had a couple hundred miles on it). We loaded our bags and kid...

The bedrooms are equal at Villa Colorado and are quite spacious. The bugs aren't any worse here than at other villas I've stayed at nearby (that were higher up the hillside). I do have my usual number of bites... The pool is beautiful and the villa is nicer than the pictures show online. We like it ...

When are you going and where are you flying from? My next trip is December 3, I was able to get ORD->STT nonstop on United for $225 one way. I booked that because I didn't think the fare would go lower with oil prices being so high and I wanted the nonstop flight. I haven't booked the 12/10 return y...

I go off season, November and December are especially nice times to go.

My kids still use booster seats, so we use a carseat bag and they check for free. That carseat bag is like a black hole, I put their lifejackets, sunscreen, food, etc in with the seats.

Meats (Steak, Chicken) Burgers Brats Butter Cheese Hot dogs(for my kids) Yogurt Tubes I buy Market Day products through my kids' school. The meats are individually frozen and shrink wrapped so there is no danger of leaking. Very easy to pack them in a cooler to check. I remember butter and cheese be...

I think early December is a perfect time to go. I would choose November or December before October, which has a higher risk of hurricanes. It's not busy in December but most everything is open, we've never a problem finding a parking spot at the beaches at that time. The water has always been warm e...
