Re: Food Shelf

As long as the seal hasn't been broken on the jar of pasta sauce, I don't think there is any problem with it having been in the refrigerator.

PA Girl is Right

Hi, PA Girl is right about the way USAir processes the upgrades for a fee. All flyers with elite status have an upgrade window of between one week and 24 hours before a flight (depending on their level). That means if there are first class seats when their window opens, they are assigned to them (wi...

I found it very scary

I know a lot of people enjoy the Cape Air flights but I did it once and I don't want to repeat it, and I'm not a white knuckle flier. I fly quite a bit both short and long distance (flew to Singapore which is an 18 hour flight) but Cape Air was too much for me. I sat up front next to the pilot in th...

Morningside

We stayed at Morningside about 5 years ago. It was nice, although the furniture was a bit dated. We really liked the open air concept and the doors roll up/down at the press of a button so the house can be closed up whenever you want. There were a LOT of birds around and they would sometimes fly int...

Same reaction to Tarpons!

What a great trip report!

I saw tarpons at Maho this summer as well. And like you, once I saw them, I began swimming quickly (but casually so as not to attract their attention!) to shore. I know they aren't interested in me but I still am scared of any fish that's bigger than me.

What a wonderful topic

Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories. St. John is truly a special place. Our first trip: On a cruise with husband and good friends in '94 (I think)and St.Thomas was our last stop. I'd done all my research and had asked everyone if they would be willing to adventure to St.John and visit this ...

Welcome Back

Glad you had a great time and got to enjoy the cooler weather in St. John - Columbia topped 100 degrees several times  .

Plus now you get to come home to watch South Carolina in the finals College World Series - go Cocks!

I will share one of my children's musts - Smoothies from the stand on Centerline.

They even insisted we stop last July during a torrential downpour.

Pass with Grandparents

For some reason, I remember buying a pass which covered Family + Grandparents when my parents came with us two years ago. We bought it at the gate. If my mind is making that up, someone correct me. No matter what, I would hope that you would buy your own pass, rather than using your relatives. It's ...

Spiders

The only time I've seen a spider on St. John was on the Reef Bay Hike (and she was NOT a hairy spider). Obviously YMMV. I used to be much more afraid of spiders, but living in the South is sort of exposure therapy for arachnaphobia - we have tons of spiders, beetles, fire ants and palmetto bugs (gia...

We rented here several years ago (Morningside) and the views were wonderful. The roads are in good shape, but it is far from the beaches as someone else noted but very quiet and peaceful (except for the darn birds that chirped outside our bedroom at dawn every morning!).

We stayed at Aurora with a 2 year old

First post so I hope I do this right. We stayed in Aurora with our son 10 years ago when he was 2. It's a nice house with a great view. Not sure if your son would have his own room, but all of the bedrooms had their own outside entry, which might be too much for that age. The bedrooms are roomy enou...
