Re: Are We In For A Letdown?
"Letdown, going to a tropical island??" Relax, I think you will still enjoy the island. Little has truly changed over the years. The thing that I think changed most, is me...few more pounds, little less hair...We did have one trip, few years back where we did a lot more "villa relaxin...

Re: Top ten restaurants you would suggest?
woops, likely more jet lag than pain-killer. Shipwreck was closed, although it looks like they are getting things ready to open. I meant to say Aqua-Bistro (not sure how many times I mix these two up) Good catch Pia, keep me on my sand covered toes.

Re: Top ten restaurants you would suggest?
Just got back form STJ last night from a 10 day trip. I heard about the ribs at Driftwood Dave's. If you like ribs, you will not be disappointed, I think the term my grandaughter used was, "we ate like a pack of wolves" !! (altough my wife had some pasta thingy with oil, spinach and roaste...

Re: returning to usvi
I can help with 2 out of 3. I would rent a jeep if the budget allows, the freedom it gives you is well worth it. Close to the Westin are two markets one of which is Starfish. With just my wife and I, we can eat out fairly cheap (that I suspect is relative). We just grab sandwhich's to go or toss a p...

day trip suggestion
All, We went to schedule a day trip with Capt. John, alas, they will not go the one place we wanted to go that day (the Bath's). :( So, I am asking for those who have done day charters, if you could not go with Capt. John, who would you pick as number two? We want to get to the baths, one other snor...

Re: Snorkel Gear
My wife and I invested in our own set. We travel with carryons only and still bring snorkel, mask and fins. As all have stated you can rent at CBWS, Low Key or Crabbys and not go wrong. We are down every year so they have already paid themselves off. Good Luck!!!

Just booked our flights. Woke up this morning and low and behold, AA lowered their ORD to SJU to 668.00 rt for two. BOOKED IT!! Then booked our Cape Air. We will leave San Juan around 9:30am, on ST Thomas a little after 10:00am. Coming back we get to sleep in a little, catch the 1:00 Cape back to Sa...

We have struggled with this since we missed the first opportunity several months ago. We decided we will be flying into San Juan on Sunday $770.00 for 2(just went up $40.00), catch Cape Air to STT for $550.00 RT for 2. The total will be $1320.00 rt for 2, vs. $1254.00 with AA thru to STT, and flying...

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like EL Convento and the Crib Hilton make the short list. We have decided to add a couple of days more in San Juan...what the heck you only go around once. We will leave on Sunday now, stay two full days, then on to STJ on Wednesday for ten glorious days. Wish us lu...

And now, for something completely differnent....
So my wife and I are starting to look for airfare for our trip in October. Of course AA is already becoming interesting (in a bad way). We are still a ways out but we got to talking we might try something different this time. We would fly out on Tuesday from O'Hare, then stay overnight in San Juan, ...
