Re: Sago palms replacement house in architectural digest

The July issue is out with letters to the editor published on the Sago Palms house. They published one critical letter from a St. John resident, but also published two glowing letters on the house. I don't think it is clear at all that these new owners damaged National Park Service lands, which are ...

Re: Please help us pick a villa!

Try Morgan Point through carefree getaways. I don't know if you have any concerns about kids being in bedrooms in separate pods from you, or in rooms accessed through an exterior stairway only, but if you do, you should ask the villa companies for floor plan info. For some reason, the coral bay vill...

Re: Help us choose a week

The north swells may be up if you visit in winter. When they're up, it's a bummer, many of the north shore beaches unswimmable. So you may want to stick with March.

I second the recommendation for Athleta. I think they're more sporty than lands end.

Re: 5 BR Villa~

Deja view is already on destination St. John website! Please don't raise the price a lot! There are a lot of high rate big houses, Vistaero really filled a good niche of being spacious with a beautiful view at a moderate price. Also, a connecting door between a couple of the bedrooms would be great ...

Re: Airfare Depression

Search for flights to stt using departure airport as "was". You'll pick up fares from bwi, Dulles, and national. I've found that national & Dulles are usually cheaper than bwi. When are you going? I'm seeing $363 round trip in season mid week and even at thanksgiving I'm seeing $400 - ...

Re: instructions on visiting Caneel

We went to honeymoon beach for the first time last year while on a cruise stop in st. Thomas. It was great for us since it was protected from the northern swells which made trunk and cinnamon unswimmable, and it has easy, quick and cheap access to cabs. It is also very pretty and very close to cruz ...

Re: Coming Back! Need Villa help

Pipanale had a hilariously bad review of Blue Skies a couple of years ago. So I would search for that one and ask the management company if his issues were corrected before considering booking it.

Re: 5 BR Villa~

Too bad about Vistaero. I hope it comes back on the market. While doing research for our trip where we ended up in Vistaero, there were a few I also looked at. We were a group of 12 with 6 little kids so some were rejected due to the bedrooms not being located close enough to each other, but here wa...

Re: 5 BR Villa~

We stayed at Vistaero a few years ago with a group of 12, and it was great. Beautiful view, large pool and deck areas, hot tub, a/c in bedrooms, and the bedrooms were equal all with their own baths. When we stayed in May 09, the house was in good shape, but I noticed a couple of reviews afterwards c...

Re: Spirit Airlines: The Difference Is The Indifference

I had a similar experience on UsAir. Sat on the runway at DCA for 2 hrs, missed connection to St Thomas in Charlotte, was sent back to Phila Delphic to fly out the next morning. We were a group of 12 with 6 kids under 5. It was a mess, and a real bummer to be sitting in the Phil airport Marriott the...

Re: Considering travel insurance for Aug trip -- advice?

I always get travel insurance. Started getting it when we had kids, thinking that they can get sick very quickly. I've found that rates can vary depending on who is going since some companies have discounts for kids and where you're going and coverage. So you really have to read the fine print. We h...
