Re: Playing Chicken with Air Fare

Delta isn't good with price reductions at this point. I believe it's $150 to change an itinerary, so the price has to reduce by more than that to make it worth it. Plus, one ticket was purchased using the "pay with miles" feature ($100 off for every 10,000 miles). Oh well, at least I am go...

I Lost!

So I paid $750 for our direct on Delta. Today it is at $687. I lost the game of chicken. Lesson learned.

Re: Playing Chicken with Air Fare

And I did it. Now I'm not even going to look at prices. That way I'll never know if I won or lost the airfare game.

mbw - I'm probably going to pull the trigger. This is getting too close for even my comfort!

Re: Playing Chicken with Air Fare

And my game continues! Bing is still saying to wait - with 80% confidence that fares will reduce by >$50.

We planned this trip in March or April and honestly air fare has been high the whole time. It's frustrating.

Re: Playing Chicken with Air Fare

Man we've got some type A travelers around here! It's just the two of us this time, no kids, so I don't really care about schedule or airline, just as long as we get there! Right now, Delta is only $40 more than the lowest it's been since I booked accommodations back in March, so I really haven't lo...

Re: White Bay in June?

There is a good chance the video you saw was from a holiday. I've visited Jost in June, July, September and October and Soggy Dollar has never been more than half full... it's busy, but not like you are describing.

Re: Playing Chicken with Air Fare

Eh, the worst that happens is we pay more. This is the longest I've waited though. I probably won't wait past tomorrow as Tuesdays are generally the best day to buy - if it doesn't drop at all tomorrow, it's probably not going to. ATL has two daily direct and several connecting flights through CLT, ...

Re: Playing Chicken with Air Fare

It's rather puzzling, especially since flight capacity from ATL hasn't decreased. Also, right around our dates it is less expensive. Oh well - just a couple of less expensive dinners out I suppose! I'm still going to hold tight and see what happens in the next couple of days - I'll be checking often...

Playing Chicken with Air Fare

We leave in 25 days. I am currently playing a nasty game of chicken with our airfare. We are going to be on-island from a Friday-Wednesday, and fares from Atlanta are over $700! The least expensive they've been since we booked our dates is $675. Absurd, as I've never paid more than $425 ticket prior...

St. John Taxi Driver for Private Tour - Recommendations?

Hi all - my sister and her family will be arriving on STT for a cruise stop in early June. They plan to ferry over to St. John for the day and don't want to rent a car. They'd rather hire a taxi to drive them around and do a private tour. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good, friendly dri...

Re: Grande Bay

Agent99 - While definitely NOT on par with the accommodations at Grande Bay, in a pinch before we've done Coconut Coast Studios and Cruz Views (managed by Caribbean Villas) for short, last minute stays. Also, if you don't mind being a bit further from town (it's just up from Jacob's Ladder, so still...

Re: Anniversary Dinner - Where?

Ed - thank you for the Terrace recommendation. I like the menu - I know things change quickly on St. John, so I'll check back in closer to our trip to see if this place is still getting raves. I know the location well. We will be in a Grande Bay studio on this trip, so unfortunately an in-rental mea...

Anniversary Dinner - Where?

We are headed back to the rock in 128 days (not that anyone is counting) and will celebrate our 11th anniversary while on island. Our last visit was September 2010, and I know much has changed on the dining front in that time. I look forward to trying a couple of new places (Fatty Crab, Sam & Ja...
