Re: Favorite Restaurants for December trip please

During our two STJ visits, we didn't try some of the more "upscale" dining spots (ZoZos, Asolare, The Terrace) which I'm sure are all outstanding, however here's my take on our favorites: 1) Fatty Crab - We like TFC's variety as compared to other local spots. Food is great and we think it'...

STJ Sun Times

I just tried accessing the STJ Sun Times website and keep getting redirected to a webhosting site. Have they closed down or is it something temporary?

Re: Why do you love STJ... & what does STJ mean to you

Ditto on the many of the comments... I would add that we (wife and I) love STJ because of the feeling that somehow it is "ours". That's not meant to sound selfish, but rather to describe a feeling that we share. It has become our place to reconnect after a long year of work, parenting, res...

Re: Trip Report: August 3 - 16, 2013 (Day 3)

Great report!!

Sea Drops - the best $6 we spent on our last trip. We had a problem with fogging and the Low Key people (always very helpful!) "cleaned" the inside of our masks with toothpaste and then recommended Sea Drops. This totally eliminated the fogging issue! :D

Re: Trip Report 7/27 - 8/3 (No pics yet)

We also enjoyed Fatty Crab and Motu in February. We stopped at Motu a couple of times, those couches (and the street side bar stools) make for a very relaxing spot. I agree about Uncle Joe's and the boiled cooking method. I think we are done with them, the misses have far exceeded the hits after ma...

Trip Report 7/27 - 8/3 (No pics yet)

I thought I'd categorize things to make my report easier to read than if I just babbled. FLIGHTS MSP-ATL-STT on Saturday, July 27th via Delta. Gotta love that 5:30am flight to ATL but somehow it was easier making this flight than for a business trip. Go figure...!! Anyway, it was non-eventful and th...

Re: Salomon beach help!

Aside from approaching from the water via a dinghy, I believe there's only one way to get to Solomon. The Lind Point Trail starts at the National Park Service HQ which is near the baseball field across the street from Mongoose Junction. Using the lower trail, it's a 20 minute hike and even though th...

Re: Restaurant suggestions for late September?

As of today La Tapa is closed for the season. Zozo's is closing and moving to Caneel. If I were you I would go to St. John Spice website and check on seasonal closings. The Terrace is no longer and is now Motu. Tourist Trap is closing on Aug. 18th. There is nothing on Motu's website or Facebook pag...

Re: Snorkel Tips at Specific Beaches

My daughter thinks she saw a small blacktip shark in this area too. Dreamshark - my wife and I also saw a small blacktip reef shark at Maho about two weeks ago. It was swimming near the turtles right in the middle of the bay!! :D One of my favorite spots is at Cinnamon. Head all the way down to the...

Re: Cruz Bay at Night - safe to walk?

I think one of the advantages of visting STJ vs other islands is the ability to walk around town at night and feel relatively comfortable. My wife and I have never had any issues walking together at night from Grande Bay to Mongoose Junction. There are usually enough people around where safety isn't...

Assuming you were at work on Monday. Thanks for bringing back the good weather! (minus that storm that blew through last night). Very funny burger competition. Loved the play by play! Re: The road down past the Denis Bay monstrosity

This may be a very silly question - but - who is the person(s) in charge of administering and monitoring such large building projects? I'm trying to understand why this situation is so out of control AFTER much of the construction has already taken place.
