Sounds good - if you start jonesing for some beach time your first full day on island, hike the Lind Point trail to Saloman or Honeymoon. It starts right behind the National Park building in Cruz Bay.

We tend to snorkel around Cinnamon Cay at least once a trip. I have never had any problems with current, and I'm not exactly a triathlete.

I didn't comment because I haven't stayed there. I most certainly would if I could afford it! It looks like there are some reviews on VRBO if you haven't found those yet.
