Hi Ksea - we do carry-ons only (no checked luggage) ALWAYS unless we're carrying scuba gear (of course we don't have any scuba gear at the moment as we're STILL waiting for the box of scuba gear that we mailed from Virgin Gorda to our home address in California on June 30th... but don't get me start...

No... unfortunately not! The main reason we mailed the boxes was because we were flying a 9-seater Air Sunshine flight from VIJ to SJU. We didn't want to get stuck in a situation where the airplane was over max gross weight and have them NOT be able to take our boxes. As it turns out, the only ones ...

Well everyone, here we are... 9.5 weeks since we've been back and we still have NOT seen our 2nd box that we mailed home from Virgin Gorda. We received the 1st box 7 weeks from shipment date. This box has a bunch of clothing (shorts, t-shirts, etc.) that the kids need for school... and it has all ou...

I'm hoping we can go to the South Pacific in the next few years.

I'm looking at Fiji for it's scuba diving and snorkeling, but need to research other areas of the South Pacific, as well.

I love Kauai... of course, it's getting more commercial than the first time I visited 35 years ago. A helicopter ride over Mr. Wai'ale'ale is breathtaking... as is a boat trip on the Na Pali coast. A hike on the Kalaulau trail is spectacular. I love the North Shore. Take a look at "The Ultimate...

You are not completely committed to taking the same barge back with a round-trip ticket. In June when we were staying on St. Thomas, and visiting St. John, we found that the Roanoke and Capt. Vic barges accept each others' return tickets, as they are owned by the same parent company. Since one trave...

Trip Report: USVI / BVI 6/17 - 7/1/07

Hi everyone ~ finally... here is my trip report! Still working on the pictures. I know most of you folks are St. John fans, but we only made it to St. John twice during our 8 nights on St. Thomas, unfortunately. Still, we had a great time on both islands! We also spent 5 nights on Virgin Gorda, whic...

We like to use traveler's checks too. That way we have a mix of funds... credit cards, travelers checks, and cash. If we need cash and are not near an ATM, we have an alternative. If we don't use them all, we just deposit them back in the bank when we get home. Unfortunately, AAA (who sells them to ...

We went with Chris Sawyer a couple of weeks ago. His operation is out of St. Thomas but they pick up on St. John (when we went they picked up at Caneel).

I always check who gets good reviews on scubaboard.com to help select.

Bob and Anita ~ Great pics! Wish we could have been there. We stayed on St. Thomas on the 24th, but thought of you guys! Have fun on the French Riviera... we passed through there for a day last summer. Life is tough for you... going from the VIs to France... but that is how it goes sometimes! 8) Car...

FlaGeorge - I looked for Uncle Buddies today, but only found James the Mail Man BBQ. He tried to convince me that he has the BEST jerk chicken, mahi mahi and shrimp... but we were there in the late afternoon and had already eaten at Gladys' downtown... so didn't have anyone's food. If we go back, we...

Thanks djmom - my kids have actually been throwing food to the iguanas from a couple of feet away. But we saw others handing food directly to them and sort of "petting" / touching them. That was a bit brave!! I heard they are attracted to red. I know the one we saw yesterday at Secret Harb...

Yes, Margo... the iguanas are everywhere here at the Marriott! The kids are enjoying feeding them.

We also saw a pretty big iguana strutting down the beach today right in front of where we were sitting at Secret Harbour. I think he was scrounging for food!

Thanks everyone!! Yes, we're going with Chris Sawyer tomorrow. My son and I will snorkel while daughter and hubby dive. So far, so good, for the Marriott. Our room is fine. We asked for an upgrade to stay on the Morningstar side (hubby is a platinum Marriott client) but they were full... so we're in...
