Re: Car rental companies demanding letter from insurance com
For Courtesy Car Rental it is right on their website that you need proof that your insurance is valid in the USVI if you want to waive the $14 a day charge. It was super simple to get that letter before we headed down.

Re: What do you pack in your cooler for villa meals& snack?
I was just thinking that too jmq! To each their own, but I never go to the trouble of taking food with me. Our villa is stocked with coffee and homemade granola so we are set for breakfast, and typically eat a late lunch out, and then I'm perfectly content to have PBJ for supper. After all, I'm on S...

Re: Travel time to Red Hook?
I've never had a taxi stop at a hotel on the way to the ferry, but I know others on the forum have.
My strategy has been to talk to those around you in the taxi line - get together a group the right size to fill a van and you'll be off directly to the ferry.

Difference in traffic, high season vs. holiday week
As I sit here looking at the 8 inches of snow out my window my thoughts have turned to my next visit to the rock! We've traditional been there during high season, so I'm used to the crowds, but in looking at the calendar for next winter it looks like the best time for me to good would be the week of...

Re: Early morning trunk bay?
We always get to Trunk right after sunrise. Usually the first ones there. I love strolling the beach with absolutely no one around. Then we back up and head home at lunch time when the crowds start getting thick.

Re: Rachel?
I realize that the numbers may have changed, but here is my cost comparison. Public Taxi Fare $15 x 2 = $30 Bags $3 x 4 = $12 Tip $ 5 Total $47 Have the public taxi prices gone up? When we were there last January this was the breakdown (yes I'm enough of a nerd to keep this all in a spreadsheet!) F...

Re: Rachel?
I always see that argument (that it costs less) but I've never found anyone remotely in the same range as just taking the taxi vans. Am I just looking in the wrong places/at the wrong people?

Malok is there some other term I should be using when I search drugstore.com? Putting in "neat sheet" brings up no results.

Where did you find them for $10? I looked into getting one before our last trip and the cheapest I could find (Amazon.com) was $50.

The DIP signs were one of my favorite things about driving around St. John. I needed a good reminder and smile on this incredibly snowy morning here in Illinois!

Re: Suggestions for us in Coral Bay?
If you only need a 1 bedroom, I'd highly recommend A House of Open Arms. I stayed there in January and it's very private and has a beautiful sunrise view. The owner does live on site but I never once felt like my privacy was intruded on in any way. The cottage would offer even more privacy than the ...

Re: When to rent Jeep
I booked almost a year in advance. As soon as my villa reservation was confirmed I did my Jeep rental. Just pay attention to cancellation terms etc. if there's a chance you'll change your trip.
