Re: Casa la Famiglia

It's over 100 feet of vertical travel to get to sea level, so I'd consider it more a hike than a path. You may go down there once to see (but not with chairs and coolers and an umbrella), but I doubt you'll be strolling out to Klein with your coffee every morning.

Re: Cruz Bay Skyline changing

Sirenusa #2!! Just like Sirenusa was - this property is zoned R-2, light residential. Hotels are not allowed in R-2. I urge anyone concerned about the Cruz Bay "skyline" to call DPNR on St. Thomas to complain. Yes, they have a permit posted - but it's for a "mobile home". 340-774...

Re: Drug selling in Cruz Bay

Unintended consequences - liiiike, - greater tax revenue? - less money in hands of gangs, resulting in fewer unlicensed firearms purchased? - more laughter? - more options of activities for cruise ship tourists to partake in? - greater use of fallow agricultural lands?? Hm. Doesn't sound all bad to ...

Re: Senate approves zoning change for Coral Bay marina

Correction: this is still a "huge mega development" - just the second one. While the developers actually know what they're doing and don't show photos of Gucci stores, be assured they're still in the plan. The condo building layout looks more like housing projects or a prison than a resort!

Documents like these found by the Daily News may prove otherwise... http://www.virginislandsdailynews.com/news/terminix-plan-for-sirenusa/pdf_53288980-fead-5a7a-ba0d-b49dacd768c9.html If it disappears, this highlighted statement may be of importance, "(** Important: During fumigation, the entir...

Re: so apparently Sirenusa knew what terminex was using

That's definitely huge news, and definitely bad for both Terminex and Sirenusa, as the defense of, "we had no clue what the rogue Terminex employee was doing" is getting further and further out of reach for both sides.

Re: Brunch??

Rhumb Lines brunch is very good, but make sure to ask the prices on their brunch cocktails, which were not printed on the menu on my last, and likely last, visit. $12 for a mimosa is utterly ridiculous.

Re: Say it Ain't So!

ms411, I agree re: public transportation, and I wish it was a viable option. However, very expensive prices, rude drivers, and lack of taxi presence at anything but the first few North Shore beaches all conspire to make taxis less viable. If there was a big parking lot / pickup spot next to the huge...

Re: Baby names

I know what everyone's thinking but so far unsaid - either "Woodys", "Genip", or "Stinking Toe". These middle names would be far better conversation starters, but also likely to result in your 14 year-old daughter disowning you. Worth it!

Re: dog on beach

Since one of the more strict NPS Rangers left a few months ago, there's been little to no enforcement of any of the Park rules - dogs, beached boats, glass bottles, cigarettes.

I think it's a huge problem, as should the Park Super, Brion_Fitzgerald@nps.com

Re: Coral Bay Marina

Are you really asking, or is it a blanket, "change is bad" kind of post? If really asking, the biggest positive I see is the pump-out station. Sure, you're not allowed to dump in close waters, but without another pump-out on STJ, do you think all boats just store "it" forever? Ho...

Re: Sago palms replacement house in architectural digest

The VI National Park was not just stripped - it was fully excavated into and the ridge removed, so their pool deck and spa could get clear views of more of St. Thomas.

This excavation is beyond all the code violations, but just the most obvious and insulting part of the story.
