Coming back for our 3rd year - any dreaded sea lice?

My wife and I are flying in next month for our 3rd trip to St. John (10th anniversary). Last year was tough with all the stinging sea lice, have they been spotted this year or have they finally moved on? Thanks

Any rain on St. John recently/Sea lice ?

Has St. John been getting any rain lately, last year was the worst I have ever saw it. All the trees and shrubs were so brown. I really hope to see the beautiful green island again this year. Also, when did the sea lice start last year. My wife and I went in August and they were really bad. I want t...

Re: St. John 1st week in August? (hurricane)

Thanks, we could try to swing the last week of June, but August would be much easier with out work schedule. I looked at the rain chart, and August seems to be a much higher chance of rain.

St. John 1st week in August? (hurricane)

Hey everyone, my wife and I are planning our second trip to St. John. We went the last week of June last year and loved it, however, we may not get to go until the first week of August this year. I'm worried about hurricane season and too much rain this time of year? Anyone else travel there in Augu...

Re: Advice on first trip to St. John

So my wife and I are flying out Tuesday morning, and we are very excited (She is in vacation mode, but I'm currently at work and have to work Monday). Any last minute tips on what to bring as far as clothing or places to eat for lunch/dinner. We aren't looking to eat real fancy, so I doubt we bring ...

Re: Advice on first trip to St. John

Thanks everyone for the tips. Seems Maho, Honeymoon, Francis, Soloman, and Salt Pond are the unanimous choices for the board. Is there a reason most people avoid Trunk Bay, is it the crowd? We may try the snorkel out to Water Lemon, but may just snorkel the beach there and not travel out if the wate...

Re: Advice on first trip to St. John

Welcome jbpadgett09 ~ you and your wife are going to LOVE St. John! As shoemak38 said, you almost can't go wrong snorkeling any beach on St. John! And I second Waterlemon Cay! That's our family's favorite snorkel. It's a fairly easy hike to Leinster Bay...set up at the beach there! You will find ni...

Re: Advice on first trip to St. John

Your question is like taking a kid to a candy store and telling them they can only pick three things. Three different kids will pick three different things. That’s how I view St. John one enormous candy store of snorkeling beaches and not enough time to devour it all. Saying that this is a well-ver...

Advice on first trip to St. John

My wife and I are going to St. John in June. We will be arriving Tuesday about lunch, and will be leaving about lunch on Saturday. The main reasons we are going to the island are to snorkel and hike (mostly snorkel). I have been reading some books about which beaches are best for snorkeling, but fig...

Re: should i rent a jeep for everyday in st. john

Thanks for all the replies everyone. My wife and I would love to do seven days, but we couldn't get all that time off work together in June. We could have in August, but didn't want to risk the tropical storms ruining our trip. This trip will be our intro to St. John, and I hope to make it a repeat ...

should i rent a jeep for everyday in st. john

My wife and I are traveling to st. John for the first time in June. We are staying for four days at grande bay resort. I'm wondering if we should rent a jeep for everyday we are there? Our plans are to hop from beach to beach snorkeling and to do some hiking while there. Thanks
