Re: Here is something you can do to preserve the reefs
The reef is already under stress from climate change, run off, etc. Any little bit we do will help it's survival. The governor has already endorsed 3 bills to clean up the environment. A ban on plastic bags has already passed the senate and is on his desk for signature. A bottle deposit is in Senate...

There is already interest in this ban in the USVI legislature. Let's make sure that the public's interest is expressed to support this ban.
Thank you

aerosol sun screen harm
Here is an article from the VI Free Press about the damage done to reefs by oxebenzone. A quote from article: “It’s almost counterintuitive,” Fauth said. “We think that aerosol sunscreen is to blame.” That’s because when you spray sunscreen, a lot of it lands on the sand or in the water.' The articl...

water quality testing
Here are results of water testing for Sept 12-16. Pretty common for these two beaches to fail. Of particular intersest if you stay at the Westin

Re: Decision Decision
The road is being paved on the side going down to the north shore. if the villa is on this stretch you could access it from North Shore road. Much closer to the beaches than anything on the south shore

Sunscreen Info
Here is an article that is on the mark about a "The Devil's Mist" In my observations much more than 1/3 of the mist blows away before reaching the target. Once saw a guy applying sunscreen to his friend while smoking a cigarette. Yikes http://womenwholiveonrocks.com/aerosol-sunscreen-aka-t...

Re: Question re Caneel Beaches
Honeymoon and Solomon can be reached by hiking from the NPS Visitor Center. or you can park on the side of the road by the Caneel entrance and hike in. Not sure if you can drive a car into the parking area at Caneel.
Denis is not part of the Caneel property.

Re: Flush for one?
The airport and businesses in Cruz Bay don't rely on rain water and cisterns for flushing. They are on a public water system that uses desalinated sea water. ok to flush always.

Re: Infrastructure on STJ
Where does STJ get its power from?? Does it have its own independent power plant ? Oil burning?? Power comes from STT. The power plant is in bad shape and power fails regularly. The plant burns oil but they are converting to propane. Soon come. What percentage of STJ homes have public water?? Where ...

The folks that own Woody's in Cruz are/were planning to open a Woody's Seaside. Word is they ran into problems with the septic system. Haven't seen any action there is a long time. Voyages building was purchased and is being renovated by Paul Saber who used to own Wharfside a while back. Plans for a...

Re: Waterfront Development Planned for Cruz Bay
This development is years off if it happens at all. The local CZM may issue a permit but the Army Corps of Engineers have the final say. This area is so shallow. The ACE is known for NOT issuing dredging permits. According to VI land records, Brett Jefferson does not own the waterfront. It is owned ...

Re: Thoughts about new Cinnamon Bay / Trunk Bay Concession?
Bluestreak, Caneel is a privatly owned resort that has a lease for use of the land owned by the Natl Park. Cinnamon Bay Campground and the land it sits on is owned by the Natl Park and contracts with someone to operate the concessions. They will never block access to Cinnamon Bay beach. You can go t...
