Re: Two more weeks in paradise, final
The villa: sorry about that. the villa is On a Clear Day. We've stayed here the past couple of summers and I have written about it in the past so I just forgot to include that info. Sea glass: any rocky beach is your best best. That said, I have also found glass on the North Shore beaches. I found f...

Re: What are you reading?
I loved this thread too, and am also looking for new suggestions. It's summer time and so I am "reading light." Some recent reads that I enjoyed: The Girls, Emma Cline Soul of an Octopus, Sy Montgomery Barefoot, Elin Hilderbrand Blue Bistro, Elin Hilderbrand The Nest, Cynthia Sweeney My Na...

Re: Two more weeks in paradise, part one
Lazing away is not hard to do on St. John. :) It's nice to have a beach, even if it's pebbly, right outside the door. How do you like the location? We've stayed in that area twice but higher up. We walked down to Klein Bay. I recall walking back up was a bit of a struggle. When you snorkeled Klein ...

Two more weeks in paradise, part one
Warning: this report is decidedly light on action. We spent a lot of time lazing around. I also noticed, once I was home and had a chance to review all of my photos, that I took a lot less photos of the scenery and a lot more of my family. You don't want to see my family photos, so I have fewer pict...

The smoothie truck is definitely open. I bought some smoothies last week
There does not seem to be anything happening with the new Woody's site in Coral Bay. I heard there was a septic issue causing delays.

Fantastic report and pictures Risa! I am sitting on my villa deck trying to summon up the energy to do my first snorkel of the trip. I am still so tired from the travel day. Once I get out there I hope I have good luck like you!

Re: Argonauta Villa
I have rented Argonauta twice, it is a great house! To answer your question, philbetm, there are some stairs at Argonauta, There are 4 or so steps down from the driveway to the main villa. The pool level and two of the bedrooms are a flight of stairs down from the main level. A third bedroom is reac...

I'll bite...so what DOES ringing the bell at Skinny's mean??? The bell at Skinny's is dedicated to Howie, a long time member of a earlier version of this forum. He was very kind and helpful to everyone. Howie died suddenly of a cardiac event (around 2005 or so, iirc), and some forum members got tog...

Re: Pay parking likely for the Enighed "Pond" gravel lot
Well, the majority of the gravel lot is taken up by derelict cars that never move. Cars with flat tires etc. Making it a pay lot might get those vehicles out of there and make room for people who are truly conducting business in town. I do wonder how making this lot a pay lot will impact the rates b...

Re: Thoughts on a two week stay off season, one villa or two
I split stays all the time off season, and have always had a good experience. If the second house is not ready, we have always been allowed to at least drop off our bags and come back later. I do cook a lot on the off-season trips and always have food to transfer, but we have three Polar Bear cooler...
