Make sure you look for certified companies. I would avoid the ones without DOT #'s.

An idea to ship the computers stateside is use http://www.uship.com/ to gain bids, or in your case a donation or partial donation from a trucker traveling your desired route. At uShip, you post on their website your shipping needs and wait for bids. All posts are free. I used uShip for quotes when d...

The answer is yes. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a room for rent on the St John Tradewinds newspaper. You can sign up online and download a copy of it weekly. I think they are published on Wednesday, though it maybe Thursday. Otherwise, you should have no problem showing up on island and find...

Welcome to the Forum! Come on in, the people are nice! To me, St John is a laid back kind of vacation. I am not the kind of person that plans anything for a vacation, because I go to get away from plans, and St John fits that bill. So...I would put plans into the wind and watch them sail away. St Jo...

I see a Forum get-together in the future! Several Forumites in the southeast NC area. I already knew Southport before taking this position. I have been there many times. I was excited to hear about this opportunity and jumped on it. I am originally from Greenville, NC. Sun4MySoul, we have looked at ...

Moving to Southport NC

I have read a number of posts about where to live in our golden years. Well, mind you, I haven't reached my golden years yet, but we are thinking about it. I have accepted a position with a company I worked for before moving to the VI, so the fam and I will be moving to Southport NC in mid September...

Jenxogirl, that's the Dependable I know. When I read your first post regarding the breakdown and the poor service the agent gave you, it sent chills over me, but I knew that was out of character for Dependable. I am so glad they reached out to you. For me, I will continue to rent on STT, even knowin...

I still have memory of the aroma of mangos that fell on the ground near the Jost overlook on Centerline. So many of them rotting away and smelling so good!

Amos leaves a large hole in St John. His quite demeanor, and gentle spirit will carry in my memories of him. Amos, I am so glad you loved Jesus. God speed brother. And forum family...you may not have known Amos Rutnick, but many of you know of his family's benefit softball tournament used to raise s...

At 6'5" you will not have a problem. The newer body style Grand Vitara is a nice SUV. The older XL7 will still work fine, but is smaller. I think the older one is 2005 and before. I have driven both on STJ. The older one will be tight with luggage for four. I have a 6'6" friend who rented ...

B & E's do happen, but usually it's an opportunist taking advantage of lackadaisical tourists. Use your street sense here like you do at you home. Don't leave the house open when away. Lock valuables up. Be aware of those around you.

Enjoy your vacation!
