Re: App for the VI?
I checked oh ranger, and it's not current. Neither is St John App. I think I'll stick with forums instead of apps for my travel needs.
Thanks, everyone, and have a merry Christmas.

Re: What to do in St. Thomas for 1 and half day
And since your time is so short, I'd recommend Emerald Beach, because it's the closest one to Windward Passage, and has calm water for the little one. Chairs are available for rent. The restaurants there are pretty good usually (especially the one at the Island Beachcomber), so you can fill up befor...

Re: What to do in St. John's for 1 and half day
Are you going to be in the Virgin Islands or Antigua? There's no Mirmar Hotel in the VI, and the island in the VI is St John. St John's is in Antigua.

Does anyone have a favorite VI app? If so, which one and what do you use it for?

Yes, I've been there, and the sculptures are amazing -so different from the usual carvings you'll see.

Maho would be my choice, too, because it's so easy to meet people during dinner and at the on-site events. Their shuttle is also a good way to meet other campers, and you'll have company on your way to town or other beaches.
Better make your decision quickly so you can make your reservation.

Re: Driving myself crazy researching cameras...
I have the Pentax Optio, but I'm not crazy about it. The LCD screen is easily scratched. I bought it because it seemed more rugged than other models, because I had broken two others. I love the caribiner clip, though, because I can hook the camera to my swim suit, and unclip when I'm ready to take p...

"Best" Snorkeling?
According to recent article in "Caribbean Travel and Life" the best snorkeling is in DOMINICA! St John didn't even make top 5. Here's an excerpt of the article. http://dominicanewsonline.com/news/homepage/news/environment/champagne-carribeans-number-one-site-to-snorkel/?utm_source=rss&...

Re: Quick Dry Hiking Shirts
Thanks, everyone. Is there a name for the quick dry apparel that I should Google? I was hoping I could find something at Big Planet on St John, but not sure what to ask for.

Quick Dry Hiking Shirts
Many of the hikers in Trinidad were wearing cool-looking quick-dry shirts and bottoms. Can you get them in St John? What are they called? They looked like Rash Guards to me, but not sure how quickly Rash Guards dry. I tried a rash guard shirt on a hike, and the polyester was very uncomfortable to me...

Hiking Poles
Does anybody on St John sell hiking poles? I'd like to get one, but have no idea as to which one I should get. I'm a 5'7" female weighing approx 125 pounds.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: How to get a kayak in USVI ?
The kayak tour operators frequently sell them. ViEco Tours is the biggest kayak tour company. Also check Best Western Emerald Beach. I've never seen anybody renting the kayaks there, so maybe they'll sell you one.
