The CA ferry is running, I just took it today. I don't think taking the downtown ferry is a big hassle at all...save yourself some money and go for it!

I wouldn't chance it. I think I've told this story on this message board before, but I shipped two boxes from the same post office in the states to St. John on the same day -- one priority, one slow mail. The slow mail box arrived BEFORE the priority box did! You really can't count on the mail servi...

He is still missing unfortunately, and there has been no word from the police regarding any investigation.

Another candidate for the spitting woman could be Luna, another possibly homeless/mentally ill woman I see a lot around Cruz Bay. She has her angry moments just like Petrina. Lindy is the only one of that group who I know of that has not appeared in the police blotter for being violent and/or destru...

I also guess Honeymoon, and I actually think I was there that day, b/c that looks like my hairdresser getting into the water, who I saw at the beach that day w/her man and their baby.

I may as well just sign over my paycheck to Happy Fish...I eat lunch there way too often. I am a sushi lover and have eaten sushi at many different restaurants in the states, and I have to say Happy Fish is the best sushi I've ever had. They do import their fish (from Boston, I believe). I've never ...

I would recommend checking out www.stjohnhistoricalsociety.org. The web site has a wealth of information, and if it doesn't have anything in reference to what you are looking for, I'm sure you can contact them through the site. Some of the members possess a ridiculous amount of knowledge on historic...

I would definitely try to get over to St. Thomas for Carnival, but keep in mind that many shops may be closed on St. Thomas that day, so you might have to forfeit some shopping to see the parade. You can take the Charlotte Amalie ferry, as BJ recommended, and walk just a few streets over to the para...

I can't say for sure what happened, as I wasn't there, but it sounds like this hiker inadvertently ended up on someone's property. The men who confronted him were sitting on the porch of a home/shack that the man encountered, according to the story. Of course, that is no reason for anyone to react t...

I took a ferry from St. John to St. Croix (special ferry for special event) in October. I wasn't taking any chances, so I did take a Dramamine beforehand. I didn't find the water was that choppy, but a few people — crewmembers included — spent more than half the two hour ride with their heads down b...

Too funny, HawkeyeChick, I am the same way...I'd rather NOT know what I'm swimming with. The few times I have snorkeled here, I ended up screaming through my snorkel and scrambling back to the boat/land. Unfortunately, it is hard to avoid those little tiny fish that want to hang out right next to yo...

Wow, thanks everyone for your input, I'll pass these messages on to my grandfather. He is now talking about renting a car for a few days and using taxis for the other few days.
Thanks again!
