Hi there! I just bought my first underwater case recently, and used it even more recently (last week!) A few things: DO bring and use the silica packs -- I forgot mine (didn't read the manual and thought they were just for shipping). My case was fine without it most of the time, but on one day it de...

Thanks, savvy...although I can't take credit for the camera work on that clip; that was my husband (I'm the one in the video, in the green shirt!) Nothintolose, the camera is a great little Fuji point-and-shoot, the F30 -- I bought the separate underwater case for it (pricey at $130 or so, but defin...

turtle footage from Trunk!

Hi all...just got back yesterday  from a blissful week-long StJ stay. I'll post a trip report soon with lots of photos, but for now, I wanted to share this video clip of us swimming with a friendly little Hawksbill turtle that we saw out near Trunk Cay on Thursday. The sweet little guy stayed w...

"scattered showers"? Somebody reassure me!

We're heading down tomorrow! Yay! For a week! But looking at the weather report, I'm seeing lots of gray clouds. :( What do you 'experienced' STJ'ers think...? Does that mean it's going to be mostly rainy? Don't get me wrong -- I can deal with a rainy day here and there, but 'scattered showers' up h...

Virgin Mobile pre-paid phones...

My Virgin Mobile prepaid phone operates via Sprint, and the 'regular' per-minute rates apply for the USVI (mine is .25/minute for the 1st 10 minutes a day, then .10 after that). Phones are cheap (sometimes free if there's a special), easy to set up, and there are no monthly plans. You can grab one a...

thanks, guys!

thanks, guys...that makes me feel a bit better! We're REALLY looking forward to the trip, and snorkeling's one of the main reasons we're coming to StJ.

Now if I could only speed up the months till December....

is there a 'season' for the best snorkeling?

We're planning a trip in December and we're wondering whether the snorkeling isn't as good at that time because the water is slighly colder then (not as many varieties of marine life, etc.?) We're so obsessed with finding good snorkeling that we'd be willing to move the dates of our trip! Thanks for...
