Re: First time bringing Newbies to the island...HELP!

BTW. Even though I’m old and retired, I keep going to school hoping to get it right. Part of my current course’s requirement was to open a blog about anything. I am on the board of our homeowners association at Sunset Ridge Villas (http://sunsetridgevillas.com/index.shtml) and have started a blog fo...

Re: First time bringing Newbies to the island...HELP!

I am not sure this addresses your current question exactly but it might be something to consider. We’d been traveling to STJ for almost twenty years when we brought along one of our adult children, her spouse and their friends. Their friends kept asking about Trunk Bay and we’d say, “no, no it is wa...

Both photos from Sunset Ridge. It is different every day. Thank goodness for digital photos or the processing would get ridiculous.

Re: It's A Beautiful Day

We think the weather at the end of March is perfect. We seldom if ever have more than a day of rain. Of course the water is not as warm as it is in the summer but it is refreshing. We wear rash-guards for snorkeling to take the chill off of long periods in the water. Perhaps the only really drawback...

Re: It's A Beautiful Day

No, I live in VT on an island about the size of STJ. In the AM I check the Sunset Ridge Villas webcam to see what kind of a day I'm missing. We visit every year at the end of March.

Re: The Addiction returns

I've given up trying to figure airline pricing. So when ever I see a price near what I paid the previous year I usually jump at it. For the past few years we have been buying our tickets in July within a few weeks of when they start posting the fares for March. In most cases we have done all right. ...

Re: The Addiction returns

We booked last month out of BTV for $631 a head with 2 stops down and one on the return. You don't get out of Vermont without at least one stop and we like flying from home because when you return home you are home. So we grabbed it. That four hour drive from Boston is a killer.

Re: The Addiction returns

We've booked our air for this March also. Since we are timeshare folks there is never any question about when to return only how. I have noticed by the calendar that we are usually on island around the same time. Perhaps we will bump into each other.

Re: Joe's Famous Diner is closing! RIP 1972-2014

It was the best fried chicken and we will miss it dearly. Joe's Dinner fried chicken was always a must have on our island menu. We even had it for breakfast on our walk of woe a couple of years.

Re: 2 bedroom suggestion near Cruz Bay

The worst part of the walk home is that first pitch before Cruz Views. I have been known to walk backwards up that section to make it more manageable. At least I think it helps. Past Cruz Views it is less steep and easier walking. Here is the map I promised. We figure it takes us about 20 minutes to...

Re: 2 bedroom suggestion near Cruz Bay

This may sound a bit far fetched, but if you can make the walk into town from Cruz Views you can walk just a little further and walk up to Sunset Ridge Villas. Part of the walk is up a goat path but we do it often. The views are spectacular and the bedrooms are in separate buildings which each unit ...

Re: Help us choose a week

As you probably know, there is a natural inertia that settles in when you arrive and get settled. So getting the boys going in the AM might be tough. But then again maybe the boys will have to get you going. And yes, you'll probably need that next week.
