Wow Liamsaunt- gorgeous looking plates and that dessert! Wow. I love to cook but I'm a cook, not a chef. My food tastes good but the presentation could use work. I was thrilled when my husband recently stopped by my aunt and uncle's house. They gave him a box of photos from my grandmother's h...

I really like the looks of most Pottery Barn pieces. DD's bedroom furniture is from PB Teen. Not sure if it's relevant but we're happy with the quality and service/delivery. We have 3 couches (2 slip covered) and 2 chairs and an ottoman (all slip covered) from Crate and Barrel. We really like the s...

Thanks for all the replies. Since my first post, I have decided against the Pottery Barn slipcover sofa. I LOVE the look in the white cotton duck but the darker color I was interested in just looks messy and dirty on the sofa so that is out. I looked at a terrific leather sectional yesterday and an ...

still, this debate has been pretty darned tame. huzzah! in massachusetts, we have a Cape Wind Project debate. many people on the cape do not want it cuz it will ruin their view. Some of the most liberal minded people in Mss (there's a lot of them I know) are against this alternative energy project....

We were price shopping Xmas vs Presidents Week and found $750 to $1,000 for both weeks out of BOS in 2009 and 2010.

Good advice from Loria to leave before school gets out. You can easily save a couple hundred dollars by flying off peak.

Good luck with the price reduction. The wind farm being built in Nantucket Sound is going to cost 2X per kilowatt hour than current prices. A rate increase of 3.5% per year is also being allowed for 15 years.

It ain't easy being green.

Thanks for all the replies....I'm even more confused. LOL I've been living with this room for 2 1/2 years to get a feel for what we need. Pia- how do you like the slip cover look? I love the practicality of it and the fact that I could change out covers by the season. With teenagers and a big old ye...

Furniture and Quality

I am looking to buy new sofas. I like the Pottery Barn Comfort sofas as I can get a 93" and 84". They are very comfortable in the store but am not sure of long term wear. I have read that the cushions do start to sag. I believe Rowe makes their sofas. They are slipcovered so I like that I ...

I made this for a cocktail party I had over the holidays and it got rave reviews. I made some adjustments- my own vinaigrette instead of bottled dressing and french baguette in lieu of focaccia. Ingredients • 2 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves • 1 1/4 cups Italian salad dressing, divided • 4...

So happy to hear the stories of those of you who enjoyed your holidays with loved ones. Becky, I am very sorry for your loss. It's so difficult to lose a loved one at any time but at the holidays when we are all so full of hope and truly embracing the importance of family, it is even more difficult.

It is always a challenge for us to find sturdy, yet airy trees for the heavier stuff. Next year I might go old school and do big 'ol c-9 colored bulbs. We started cutting down our own trees a few years ago as we had the same problem with over sheared trees having flimsy branches and little room for...
