Re: No AC (specifically Ixora or Ajax Peak area) in the summ

Spent last June on Mamey Peak and we'll be there again in June this year. Nice and breezy. Never turned on the AC. I hate AC on St John because you miss the breezes, sounds and smells.

You can't take the peanut butter but thank goodness you can take a nice sharp knife to spread it. :|

Re: Passports for my kids

The renewal with our daughter took about 15 minutes. The three of us went to the Post Office, got her picture there and sent her old passport in along with the renewal application. We got it back about 3 weeks later. Here are the rules for under 16: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/minors/minors...

Re: Reef Bay Trail Advise

I would at least take 2 bottles of water for each person. It's downhill but it's hot and humid and you really should keep drinking. I always wear my swimsuit under my shorts. We always take the boat ride back so it's not a big deal to be wet afterwards. I wouldn't bother with a snorkel bag but it mi...

Re: Strictness of no-children-under-8 policy?

It seems like we encountered this once but the agent was fine with it since we had 5 adults supervising the one child. It's worth asking.

Re: Christopher's Taxi?

I have to agree. I've had flight issues as well and Chris was always prompt and friendly. I always recommend him - very professional. I have to 2nd on Dohm's as well. It was very hard to get on the public ferry this past year after having used Dohm's the last two times. What a fantastic and stress-f...

Re: Bay Rum Breeze Or Villa Tiffany

My daughter stayed in the den off the kitchen at BRB last year and will again this year. She's only 8, though. I don't think a 20-year old would want to sleep on a hide-a-bed in a room without a real door. It's fine for a little kid but not sure about a grown up kid.

Re: Where to look for Octopuses?

I've seen them in very shallow water as well. I love looking for them. Just hang out and try looking for a pile or scattering of clean opened oyster or other shells. Look carefully at rock crevasses nearby the shells. The thing I always spot first are the white suckers on their legs. The rest of the...

Re: Caneel Turtle Town for Kids

This will be her 4th trip to St John. She's always found a new best friend before we even put down the beach chairs and cooler. She loves hanging with local kids because they know the best spots to play. She really wants to do Turtle Town but I wondered if it was worthwhile. Oh, and we have always b...

Caneel Turtle Town for Kids

Have any of you had your kid(s) do the Turtle Town program for the day at Caneel? We're staying there at the tail end of our vacation this summer for the first time and my 7-year-old really wants to do some fun things with other kids (she is a hyper social only child). I thought this sounded like ju...
