BillVT’s St. John Trip Report: Preface
We have been traveling to St. John yearly since 1997. There may have been a year or two when our daughter was in college that we may have missed; college ain’t cheap. But mostly, it has been a yearly trip. And for the most part, we have traveled at the same time of year, except for the above-mention...

Re: Tamarind villa
It is nice to see that someone has put some money into the place. It has a great location, especially for families who want to be close to town or avoid driving. When we had stayed there seven years ago it was like walking back in time to when the villa had been first constructed in the ’70’s includ...

Re: Tamarind villa
lovest.john I don't have answer for you. The last I heard, it had been sold to a private owner. I too have been interested in this villa for years. When our children were younger we rented it for a week and had a great time there. It may have been seven years ago and it was long in the tooth then, b...

Re: Cruz Bay Villa help
I have an under budget suggestion. Take a look at Sunset Ridge Villas. It is just above Sirenusa. There are 6, 2 building units and at that time of the year, there is low occupancy so sharing the pool may not be an issue. Each bedroom will be in a separate building and the views are fantastic. You c...

Re: Sad
We still check in on a on a fairly regular basis. Looking for news and views of STJ. We do kind of miss how active this forum once was. Even the TA forum is a little less active with old timers than it was. Since we are on the homeowners board at our timeshare we look for questions that might connec...

Re: Tourist Trap
Farewell to Tourist Trap and especially Larry. Our hearts are broken. I am afraid we will never find another porktopia with the good nature of The Tourist Trap.

You get suckered into being on the board of your small time-share’s homeowners association and find it almost as much work as a full-time job. Good thing you’re retired. But once a month, you have a conference call with six other self inflicted sufferers like yourself to discuss WAPA rates, insuranc...

Re: Tourist Trap Larry's Retirement Plan
Year's ago before the Trap he talked about Vieques being the place to retire to. I think Larry's retirement is a moveable feast. One thing for sure, I doubt he'll return to Manchester N.H.

Tourist Trap Larry's Retirement Plan
When we were at the Tourist Trap in March, Larry explained his retirement plan. He will move to Florida and find a neighborhood with a high concentration of take-out restaurants that deliver and a decent barroom. Where he actually lives will not matter that much. Then he will spend his day at the af...

Re: Thoughts about new Cinnamon Bay / Trunk Bay Concession?
According to their website, Brian Stewart the founder of Redwood Parks, worked for Xanterra. Xanterra manages Yellowstone NP. Our son worked for them one season in Yellowstone. Of course Yellowstone is a huge operation so it would be difficult to compare but Xanterra hired between 40 and 60% of its ...

Re: When and/or was your 1st Time on STJ
Just to prepare you, Pussers is gone but if the last time you where there was 2006 you probably know that. It is a little busier and a little more developed but still St. John.

Re: Dinner first night in STJ
Like the previous comment, after traveling all day we usually buy a rotisserie chicken at Starfish and pick away at on the deck of the villa. But if you still have the energy to go out, there is always La Tapa or the Waterfront Bistro.
