Stinging Plankton - Any Updates?

The Good News - our 30 day countdown has begun!! We are bringing two newbies along and can't wait to show them around. The "I'm Not So Sure" News - have those stinging wee critters abandoned the North Shores beaches yet? If not, are all the North Shore beaches still impacted or are they co...

Re: St. John Spice Grill Rub

Believe it or not, I've used it when grilling asparagus. Toss the asparagus in some olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and STJ Grill rub, then hit the grill for 6-8 mins... Good stuff!!!

Re: Stinging Plankton???

I just returned from am 8 day trip to St John. My son and I were never stung. We were in the water every day, mostly on the North Shore beaches. I never heard anyone say they were stung while I was there. Seems like it's hit or miss. Aside from the last sentence, this is the response I was looking ...

Stinging Plankton???

I wasn't too thrilled to see this article in News of St John http://newsofstjohn.com/2015/04/27/what-the-heck-is-in-the-water/ OK, who is going to step forward and tell me: A) Go in the water - they are really no big deal B) If you do get stung you will only itch for a little while C) They SHOULD be...

Another vote for Jake's in the Lumberyard. We enjoy the food and the owners (including their small children) are very nice, despite being Red Sox fans! :)

Two trips - one outage that lasted a few hours (Grande Bay was not impacted). Cable TV at local bars can be spotty at times...

Re: Delaware Family Poisoned at Sirenusa!

The Today Show ran with the story again this morning. They mentioned the story received significant attention when they covered it yesterday. No new updates were provided about the family that we don't already know. They had someone from the legal profession stating the biggest issue in the anticipa...

Re: Airline flight change!! Need opinion

Excellent decision to head down the night before. Forty mins is tight and given the heavy flight loads, there is no guarantee of space on the next STT flight if you miss the connection.

We did this a few years ago and it worked out great. It's much more relaxing!

Re: Delaware Family Poisoned at Sirenusa!

Terrible news and I hope the family recovers quickly. Assuming the rumors regarding methyl bromide are true and without knowing much about its availability, who on STJ would have the need to use something this toxic? Is there a common use for it on an island like STJ? Are chemicals like methyl bromi...

Re: Another US Airways change...ugh

About a month ago, I received a Kayak notice early in the morning regarding a US Airways fare sale from Minneapolis to St. Thomas via Charlotte. We leave at 5:40am on August 2nd and arrive in St Thomas around 3:00pm. Fare was $499 per person. So far no changes announced to the schedule... :) By 1:00...

Re: Decent Summer Airfares from Minneapolis

Maybe I spoke too soon. Just checked multiple sites and the cheaper fares are no longer available.

WOW - they dropped after I arrived in the office this morning and bounced back before I left. Looks like it might be a rough ride for bargain hunters this year... :(

Decent Summer Airfares from Minneapolis

Just booked MSP-STT via Charlotte on USAir for $500 RT. That's down over $100 from previously published fares so we jumped on it! :D

Don't want to wish away the summer, but...... roll on August 2nd!!!!
