We stayed at Morgan's Point villa several years ago, which is on the western side of Maria Bluff. Even though we had A/C available in the bedrooms, we never used it, as there was good exposure to the trade winds. I would think that this would also be the case for a villa on Contant Point, especially...

the road to Hell ...

Just checked GE, and saw that the latest sat photo has a big cloud over the area I was describing.

Oh well. Just turn right after the dumpster on the right.

The dumpster is just past the longish lefthand bend on eastbound Southshore. Turn right b/w the dumpster & the basketball courts (which are opposite the gas station). Alternately, you can make a right on the top of Jacobs Ladder. If you can, checkout Google Earth, which now has much better resol...

"Adrift on a Sea of Blue Light" by Peter Muilenburg. I read this during my last stay in STJ in 2006. The author is also owner of the sailing vessel "Breath", which sailed out of STJ. (Not sure if she still does.) The book covers the author's experiences on STJ & "Breath&...

Doubtful that any beach in STJ would have a decent break, unless a tropical system in nearby. Shoreline on STJ drops off quickly. On some of Tortola's north shore beachs (eg. Long & Apple Bays), the dropoff if more gradual. We brought boogie boards with us the last time we were in Tortola, and p...

Rum? Always Pussers. Beer? I tend to drink Hineys or Caribs when I'm down there, but I stumbled upon some VI Pale Ale (summer promotion?) at my local liquor store this summer. Took a case to a party. Gone in a flash. Went back & bought another case the following weekend. My wife & her visiti...

My wife Jackie & I will be staying in Elbow Cay next May. She originally had suggested the Exuma Cays, but The Abacos seemd more interesting.

Just trying something different from the VIs. Thought about Culebra or Vieques too.

Long Bay Resort

My sister-in-law has stayed there several times, and likes it very much. Long Bay itself is a great beach, from personal experience, with decent body-surfing waves on occasion. Also, LBR is close to Bomba's, if you're so inclined, and not too far away from Lower Belmont Bay (aka "Smugglers Cove...

One more thing though ....

Travelling in CR is an adventure. Sometimes horrible roads & non-existant road signs made this a truly memorable vacation.

+1 for Costa Rica Spent a week there exploring. Did Arenal, Tamarindo, and Jaco. Would go back again. Tamarindo is a nice beach town, and there's nothing quite like seeing (and hearing) Arenal spew lava! Jaco was so-so, although it has a great surf break. But right now Jackie & I are planning a ...

Spellbound

In Susannaberg.

Not only great views from STT (and even Vieques) to JVD, but also overland down to STX.

But what was best was to see the Southern Cross in the summer night.

I don't know if you can post pics here; otherwise, I would.

Toni:

I took my XM MyFi portable down to STJ this summer. No reception whatsoever, and the villa we stayed at had unobstructed views to the south. So I'd say no.
