Re: Flander's Villa, Alice By the Sea, Casa YaYa, or Bo Atab

Alice By The Sea belongs to our very own forumite loria! Recently updated.

I think loria may have also stayed at Bo Atabey on one of her trips.

I like the looks of Flanders. Never been there; I recall reading that it's really windy on the decks. Could be mistaken.

Re: Rash guards

I bought both of mine at the stores by Skinny Legs. Be sure that yours fits tightly. They look small but when you're in the water you'll want it tight so it doesn't balloon around. The second one I bought, I got a size that fits more like a shirt. Too big once I get in the water. I'm glad you're get...

What Teresa said: Zac Brown with some help from Jimmy Buffet. :D

So glad you all like it! It brings me back for a few minutes. Sigh.

Here's a picture from our trip 2 weeks ago. The Parasheet looks small, but my son is 6'5"!

Re: Villa recco for family w 5&8 y/o

We stayed at Rhumb Runners in Coral Bay on our second visit. 2 bedrooms on 2nd floor, interior stairs. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and there is a half bath on the main floor. The second BR had twins so the kids had their own beds. Nice pool, kitchen has been updated since our visit, paved road...

Re: snorkel trip with Pam Gaffin

That will be wonderful! I always love seeing things through the eyes of someone who knows so much more than I do. I'm sure she'll point out things that others might miss. Enjoy!

Re: Neat Sheet

What Mike said! We just used our on STJ for the first time last week and it was great. Lighter weight than a Neat Sheet (I have one of those, too) and as Mike said packs up really small. It has pockets on each corner to fill with sand (or rocks or shoes or whatever) to keep it in place. $38 on Amazo...

Re: STT International Regatta

We were out in dinghies on Wednesday, April 1. While moored at Waterlemon we saw many spinnakers go by and wondered if there was an event taking place. It looks like we missed the regatta by a day, so maybe there were just a large number of sailors still in the area enjoying the wind. It was fun to ...

Re: Survey: power outages during your stay(s)?

6 trips; the only outages I can remember were on our recent trip (just returned) Saturday night and Sunday morning. Saturday night was lovely, except that it happened in the middle of the Michigan State / Duke game so my 16 y.o. DS was not happy. Also the neighbors had an annoying loud generator tha...

Re: Reef Bay Hike without National Park Service?

We loved doing this hike! Doing it round-trip really was no big deal. In fact it seemed easier than the Johnny Horn trail which we did a few days ago. The only big huge bummer is that someone stole our bag that we had left at the intersection of the petroglyph trail and the reef Bay Trail. It was on...

Thanks everyone! I've checked into recommendations and spoken with my friends. We may run into a pricing issue but I'll be sure to do a TR and let everyone know what we ended up doing!

Recommendations for Private Charter for 6 - Snorkel not Bars

I've been on a private sail to JVD that was great, but had just as much time at Foxy's and Soggy Dollar as time spent snorkeling. Next week (yes, I may be too late) our group of 6 will include 3 teenagers. We'd love to try some snorkel spots we've never been, like the Caves. Don't need time at bars....

Reef Bay Hike without National Park Service?

Procrastinating led to calling too late to do the Reef Bay Hike with the NPS. (We're on the waiting list but it's unlikely we'll get to go.) Our group of 6 is fairly athletic - we've all done 8 Tuff more than once. So I'm thinking we can hike both ways, knowing that we need to carry plenty of water....
