Re: Car rental late pick up

If it's close to 5 someone may wait for you. If not, some will leave the keys under the mat or above the visor for you and post your name inside the windshield. Just call and ask how they handle it.

Re: Website with snorkeling demonstration?

Thanks Augie! I'm sure that anyone who is really trained or proficient in snorkeling is rolling their eyes. But hey, it works for me! I didn't start until I was over 50 yet I can snorkel circles around my friends and I have fun.

Re: Website with snorkeling demonstration?

Minde - Here's one that I found - http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-snorkel-safely-and-successfully This gives just the very basics so you'll have to tell your sister that everyone pretty much develops their own style once they get into to the water. I don't personally put my fins on before gettin...

Re: villa recipes?

For my last trip I marinated a couple pork tenderloins and froze them to add to our cooler of grub. If you don't want to do them ahead of time you can always buy them there and start them marinating in the morning before you leave for the beach. I liberally season the tenderloins with salt/pepper th...

Re: South Shore- Klein and Rendezvous Bay

What Bill said for the most part with a couple additional notes. Some have said that there is decent snorkeling at Chocolate Hole. I've only tried it once on my very first trip and never found the right area, I'm sure due to my inexperience at the time. There is very limited parking and no beach and...

Re: Winter Travel Quandry

It probably all depends on how you're getting to the airport and how long you'll have to be outside. When I travel to STJ I will either drive and park at an offsite parking location with shuttles to the airport or the last trip we were dropped off at the door because the husbands weren't going this ...

Re: Jumbie

I wouldn't even qualify the walk down to Jumbie as a "hike", it's not really that long and flip flops will work just fine.

Re: Our last day will be on STT - What to do with luggage?

The Visitor Center was closed when we were there in December - the outside of the building looked as though it had been closed for a while so not sure what's going on there. That was always our luggage drop off and meeting place. This last trip we used a STT taxi driver to hold our luggage and pick ...

Re: Reef Bay area

By coincidence I happened to have stayed on Reef Bay just last month. We rented Virgin Sea Breeze...very nice place, although the layout had a few quirks. The master bath was outside across from the master bedroom, not enclosed. The two bedrooms in the guest villa shared a bathroom. Great for a fami...

Re: Bee in my bonnet

I'm glad you liked them. My crowd isn't into candy particularly either but anyone who tasted them always went back for more. It's also the bomb to dip pretzel rods into the hot caramel and them roll them in nuts or coconut, crushed up toffee, etc and then drizzle with white or dark chocolate. You'll...

Re: Bee in my bonnet

Damn, I already have a Florida trip booked for that week otherwise I'd be SO tempted to join you!! I could NEVER convince my spouse to try a budget trip....his idea of roughing it is the Marriott. Personally I'd sleep in a cardboard box if it meant another week in my happy place. Hey - how did your ...

Re: No St John trip this year... BUT....

I think you're going to find trouble getting a place in March at this late date, but never say never. We're going to try out Siesta Key in March....they are supposed to have the #1 beach in the country. Ironically, we will be travelling from Sebastian on the other side of the state where we will be ...
