Re: Training for 1/2 marathon
Totally concur with Hoosierdaddy...big fan of jogging and I've trained for halves too. Since we go in June, I'm usually between races and haven't started the fall session yet. But last time we went, a friend that went with us was doing early marathon in the fall and needed to get a 12 in, which I th...

Re: What's new in 2017?
Vie's food hut is closed but the beach is still open. Thalia, the owner, charges about $2.50 for parking. Good to know as I think the last I'd heard, access to that beach had just been closed off indefinitely. Just curious...does Thalia own a part of the Snack Shack and will she be bringing it back...

Re: After 8 long years....Drumbiker's coming "Home"
Two other things I thought of... 1) The master bedroom at Summerwind is significantly better than the other bedrooms in the villa. So you may want to have that conversation with your fellow travelers before you get there about divvying up rooms and whether the couple that gets the master pays a litt...

Re: Favorite Change
Big fan of the roundabout too...I do like the semi-new paved approach to Francis Bay too. Normally wouldn't be in favor of more concrete on STJ, but I think that helped.

Re: After 8 long years....Drumbiker's coming "Home"
Congrats on the return trip and I'm anxious to hear your perspective after taking some new couples with you. My first trip to STJ, my wife and I stayed in a villa with 3 other couples that was a blast. I just hope everyone in your travel party "gets STJ" :D We have actually stayed in Summe...

Re: Thief at Solomon Bay
Haha, very nice...and it brings back a very similar run-in we had with another type of thief at Solomon... WIFE: "What are you doing, you're just going to let him take it?" ME: "Yes, yes I am." WIFE: "You didn't let the mongoose take it." ME: "The iguana gets what ...

Re: Fresh Produce?
I've never noticed much difference between Dophin, Starfish and STJ Market when it comes to overall quality and freshness of produce but I have noticed a big difference depending on which day of the week you go. Don't quote me on this, but I think I recall being told that a lot of deliveries to the ...

Re: just booked
Amazing how your entire disposition changes after you get that villa secured and the flights booked. My wife and I just booked too for this June under very similar circumstances...just didn't think it would happen, but then we figured out a week that would work and next thing I knew we had a villa a...

Re: Drug selling in Cruz Bay
No, those are obviously observable intended results...I don't know what would be an unintended consequence...maybe some type of dynamic shift in STJ's economy that makes it more attractive to corporate investors so much so that Cruz Bay looks at lot more like Cancun in with tons of chain stores in 1...

Re: Drug selling in Cruz Bay
Interesting, thanks for posting...this article may have been about more than just marijuana, but I was curious what locals think about the potential legalization of pot. Would be interested to hear your thoughts...seems like if there was a store or two in Cruz Bay that sold it legally, it might dimi...

Re: Ferry day trip to Tortola or JVD?
Never spent much time on Tortola, but if I had a 12 and 10 year old and was going to Jost via the ferry, I'd head right to White Bay when we got off the ferry in Great Harbor (about 9:30am) and take the cab over the hill. Soggy Dollar was pretty calm in the morning the last time we were there and di...

Re: 10 more days in paradise--the full report
Always enjoy your TRs. Your photography is 2nd to none. Not even sure what I'd do with two weeks on the Rock. So far 8 days is my longest, but would eventually love to get to two weeks. I love how you guys split time at 2 spots. It's like two vacations in one. If I were to do it, I think I'd spend o...

Re: What's new in 2017?
So good to be back among the STJ friendlies...really appreciate the good intel. Teresa, good to know about the barges and now I'm pretty convinced I better figure out another game plan on departure day. I may call AA just to see what's what because 2.5 hours should be enough, but rules are rules. Ri...

What's new in 2017?
Hi there, My wife and I are headed back to the Rock in June. It will be a year since our last visit. Just curious what's new? Any new restaurants? Any closings? I heard Tourist Trap shut down for good :( Has the car barge situation gotten better? Can we make the 9:30am AA flight from STJ? Just inter...
