Re: A lovely day on island

The Reef Bay Trail going down is easy. A nice stroll in the woods especially if you take your time. The ranger walk, if that's what your doing, is very informative. They give you plenty of breaks along the way. Just bring lots of water. The walk back up is torture. Like climbing the Empire State Bui...

Re: Saint John info

HI GUYS, Welcome to paradise! While in St. Thomas you must get over to Glady's Restaurant in CA for lunch. Try to go on a day when no cruise ships, otherwise all of CA is a zoo. If you're staying in Cruz Bay & love to hike you might walk to Honeymoon & Salomon Beaches. The trailhead is by th...

Re: Villa for 2 couples, close to Cruz Bay?

Have you checked out Guavaberry Hill, managed by Caribe Havens. It is up the hill from Mongoose Junction. Not a fancy villa, but has great sunset views, is very private and secluded. One of the bedrooms is in a separate building with its own very private balcony. We stayed there this January and fou...

Re: Living like there's no tomorrow - April trip booked

If you like music, go to Quito's in Cane Garden Bay on Friday or Sat. night when Quito performs (make sure he'll be there first) He performs solo one night and then with his band, The Edge, the other night. One of the best musicians in the Caribbean! If you can go up to Sage mountain, the highest po...

Re: Last minute trip

Hi, It depends on what you mean by a bargain and what you're looking for. The Inn at Tamarind Court is the cheapest place to stay (I think) in St. John. If you're looking for villa type place check out Guavaberry Hill. It's rented through Caribe Haven. Nancy is a pip! Good luck! Wish I was there now!

Re: Favorite Place for Breakfast Near the CA Ferry?

Whenever we're in CA we make a point of going to Glady's Cafe in, I think the Royal Dane's shopping center. It's a short walk from the CA ferry. The food is great and so is the ambiance, especially when there are no cruise ships around. I know they open early but don't know if they have a specific b...

Re: Things to do for kids

I started bringing my kids down to STJ when they were 7 & 8. (Now in their 20's). We would always stay at Cinnamon Bay Campgrounds. Things we did: Ranger led walks along the beach. Night time constellation viewing. Moonlight swims. Reef Bay Hike. "Exploring" in Cruz Bay. Walks to diffe...

Re: (Possibly rainy) Day trip to Tortola....

There are two ferry docks in Tortola: Roadtown and West End. If you take the ferry to West End, there is really nothing much to do. Pusser's Landing is down the road. It caters to the boating crowd. You'd have to take a cab to the closest beach which I think is Smugglers Cove. (BTW, the Beaches in To...

Re: Overnight in STT

We've stayed at the Galleon House in C.A. several times. It's recently came under new management and staff seem very nice. The rate includes breakfast, but for an 8am flight, you'll miss that. The only drawback is that it's a massive number of stair to get up to the rooms.

Re: Need BVI destination wedding advice please!!

Hi ahrnempt! Just saw your posting. We got married in Tortola in 2010! We had about 30 people fly in for our wedding from as far away as Brazil. We chose Myett's in Cane Garden Bay for a variety of reasons: 1. We had been to Cane Garden Bay several times and liked the laid back atmosphere of the pla...

Cinnamon Bay Forum is a great site for information about CB campgrounds & surrounding area. Also a good way to meet fellow campers before your trip!
