Re: Full moon hike - Ram Head

Thanks for the insight everyone!! Some things I didn't think about, so I appreciate that.
And thanks for the clarification/correction on Ram Head, not quite the same as St Johns to me but I see where you are coming from :D oversights happen.

Full moon hike - Rams Head

We will be there for full moon in April. Always wanted to do the hike to rams head. Anyone here have any tips, insights, suggestions? We have done hike before in the day, so know what to anticipate in terms of the hike itself. Guess I'm wondering what time is best to go for full moon, are there grou...

Re: snorkeling death at waterlemon

Pia - I hope we bump into you for some local perspective when we are there in April, I would love it!! This is sad and scary. It is typically just my hubby and me, and I usually will stop snorkeling well before he wants to. Some beaches such as maho or Francis don't concern me as much, however this ...

Thanks for insight, kinda what I anticipated and agree Rachel would know best. Confirmed for me that we should take private taxi route this time.

Arriving during Carnival 2013 - what to expect?

Greetings! Villa, Rental Car and Flights are booked for return trip in April, woohoo!! As I was doing some research for using Rachel for taxi this time around, I stumbled upon a carnival reference. Sure enough, it appears we arrive on start of carnival, 04/19 Anything we should anticipate or expect,...

Re: The 2012 St. John holiday gift thread

Wouldn't be Christmas here without a St John Spice order. Coffee for xmas morning and gifts, grill rub and whatever other treasures hubby adds on!

Finally heading back in April after 5 years, kinda scared of all the changes but soooo excited!!

Happy Holidays!!

Ditto on the sun and lips. Always an issue for me. As an FYI don't use anything wax based. Made that mistake of using a ski/sun product I thought was perfect, my lips were literally cooking and covered in blisters! Fun trip to clinic, they were awesome.
SPF 50 with zinc was my solution.

Our first trip, didn't have rental car at first. We hiked from Gallows to Salomon and Honeymoon. Would totally recommend, it was literally breathtaking. Coming out of the trees and getting your first view of the sand and that water is something I will never forget. We got a car later in week and hit...

Agree with some of the other comments here. I just got the kindle fire myself, so thought I would share. I too was debating the ipad, but when it comes right down to it, what did I need it for and for that price, plus an addl monthly fee for 3g? We already have 2 laptops and both hubby and I have ip...

Oh no, sorry to hear! Hope it clears soon.
7 years ago this week (today actually) we were hoping to get married on the beach in St John, but the 'November Rains' came, had to get married inside and bump it a day!
Still had an incredible time, but can totally relate. Good luck!

Nice trip report Lex.
Love Cali. We did the coastal drive a couple years ago, but couldn't do Big Sur due to the fires, so must go back!
For those looking for B&B's, it's not Carmel, but we stayed at Seven Gables Inn in Pacific Grove and loved it. Great location and beautiful inn.

Your trip reports are always incredible and offer such a great perspective.
Funny part it is I am 'saving' this for when I can really sit down and enjoy. We have done 6 trips to STJ and like the rest, always thinking of other spots. thanks for sharing!
