Re: Finally returning!
Having done this many times, I have my 2 go-to places that fit the budget. Island VIew Guest House and the Green Iguana. GI is a short walk to the shopping in downtown and Island View has a great view and on-site restaurant with an honor bar. Nothing fancy but great hosts and both fit the bill. Ditt...

Re: Dinner first night in STJ
We've been coming to STJ for a long time so have changed somewhat. Since coming from Minnesota it gets to be a LONG day of travel this year leaving the house at 3am and arriving on STJ about 7pm. We used to hit JJ's Texas Coast now Cruz Bay Landing. More recently it has been the Banana Deck for casu...

Re: STT recomnendations for one night
I have done this a number of times staying one or two nites on STT before going over to STJ. I have stayed at the Island View Guest House and the Green Iguana. Both basic and reasonably priced and the owners are very accommodating. Island View has very good food and an honor bar plus a great view of...

Car Ferry
Having rented vehicles on STT for the last couple of years and having good luck with ferries etc. I was surprised to learn that the Mister B was apparently seized by creditors and may now be out of service. Will be on island in 3 weeks so am concerned if this impacts service between islands. Has any...

Some of my group went last March while I got take-out ribs and watched NCAA basketball. According to them, mine was the better choice. Very poor service, mediocre at best food. None of them would go back but would go back for lunch or Sunday brunch.

You could try the bay opposite Annaberg I think it's called Mary's Creek. Flyfishing friendly with reef fish etc. Wadeable. Good luck

Villa recommendation or review
Our group of 4 couples is considering renting L'Spirit de la Vie this winter. Thoughts? Past experiences? Only for one week after which others leave and 2 couples get to stay another 2 weeks at a different villa. Thanks in advance

Re: Lavender Hill
Stayed there years ago. 3W was the unit we loved. Upstairs balcony and lower wrap around deck. 2BR 2bath with pullout couch. liked the convenience of walking to town. Staying in villas now but have a larger group that made Lavender unworkable.

Car ferry
I am scheduled to arrive via Sun Country at 3:40 PM. Picking up a car in STT(hertz) and hope to make a CostULess stop enroute to the car ferry. I have been told that the last car ferry is 6:30 PM. Is that doable? Or do I need to skip the grocery/liquor stop? Again assuming the flight arrives on time...

I am a big fan of Rhumb Lines. The Ultimate Pad Thai will leave you sweating from the spice and is great. Also endorse the Banana Deck and Joe's. The Happy Hour at Joe's features $3 drinks. Dangerous after a day at the beach. Lastly for modestly priced Mexican, Margarita's Phils. Large drinks and po...

Island VIew Guest House is great. Modest, affordable, convenient and great views. Owners are very accommodating and can dine right at the guesthouse. We have stayed there several times at the beginning of a trip and never have had a bad experience.

That is a Blue Tang one of 70 species of surgeonfish. The perspective makes it confusing but they range from nearly black to a light blue depending on the water. Pacific ones are lighter in color at least by my photos. Does make me long to see them up close and personal again and I have to wait til ...

Villa suggestions
I am at the planning stage for my return to STJ this winter and researching villas. I am looking for a 3-4 BR with 2 master suites as we are 2 couples with an occasional adult child to visit during our stay. Looking to stay from 2-3 weeks starting the last week of Feb. We have been to the Rock many ...

Re: St Thomas Hotel
We have done exactly the same thing for the last couple of years. We have stayed one or two days on STT before heading over to STJ. Our 2 go to places are the Island View Guest House and the Green Iguana. Basic, very reasonable, modest. THe Green Iguana is above the 99 steps downtown. If you want to...
