Re: Snorkel gear rental

One good thing about Low Key ... and something that some folks might overlook ...

If someone you know uses corrective lens/glasses, they have corrective masks for rent. They worked for my visually-challenged wife.

Pricier, but worth it!

Discount Parking @ EWR

BTW, anyone flying out of EWR should look at the GroupOn discount being offered by Newark Liberty Parking. I used it twice this year, and it is a good deal w/ good service.

The Groupon discount is valid until 5/28/14. Three days before we return from STT. Damn!

Re: EWR-STT

United EWR-STT non-stop will (well, should) be Terminal C.

The 'puddle-jumper' United flights (say, to Dulles), as well as Jet Blue, Delta and AA will fly out of Terminal A.

Re: Opinions/Advice needed

My wife & I did the 'full package' RBT hike in May. Boat trip back to Cruz Bay was certainly nice.

But, IMO, hiking the RBT up`n back is quite do-able. Just try to get a parking spot close to the trailhead (i.e., early!)

Enjoy!

Re: Reliable Waterproof camera suggestions

Rick:

Learned from several friends who have GoPro's mounted on their m/c helmets that WiFi makes it a battery hog. Less of an issue if you disable WiFi.

Best of luck w/ your decision.

Re: Cruz Bay historical find

Very cool! Arriving in the VI on vacation, its easy to overlook that fact that, centuries ago, the Caribbean islands were the subject of intense struggles among the European nations (not to mention independent operators (aka "pirates".)) I've occasionally looked at that cannon mounted adja...

Re: You Might "Get" St. John if...

You come home from two wonderful weeks in STJ, swearing that you will travel elsewhere, to avoid further excursions to that 'Gold Lined Rut.' Even have a two-week vacation booked for the Black Hills in SD, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton. Then you realize what you truly enjoy. Reading a book under a pa...

Re: Carnival shirts???

Leslie:

Thank you!! That's very sweet of you, but I'll be OK without the shirt. I still have one clean one from 2006 (I think).

Enjoy the 4th, the Parade, and the fireworks!

Carnival shirts???

One thing I regret about visiting STJ in May is not being able to purchase one of the STJ Carnival shirts (which apparently don't go on sale until Carnival week.) I've owned several from previous years but, due to 'pit stains', they were eventually relegated to soaking up oil on the garage floor, et...

If we're @ Trunk, lunch is a no-brainer. Those burgers & fries at the snack shack are to-die-for.

Re: St Thomas' airport porter , Daphne

Daphne wasn't available when we departed on Sunday (6/9), so we used another porter. BIG difference, regardless. Major conga line awaiting clearing customs, but we bypassed it. (Its only a matter of time IMO before the special porter service will be eliminated.) Anyway, I estimate that it saved us a...

Some Pics

Jackie & I spent her 61st, and our 38th, on STJ from 5/26 until 6/9. A wonderful two weeks. Not doing anything particularily amazing. Just enjoying the Island. Here are some pics. The one decent sunset we had during out two-week stay. Wonderful, regardless. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7409/901...

Re: GO Phone

I had someone at AT&T tell me that the roaming charges on my phone that said I was in Jamaica had to be correct since St John was so close to Jamaica! [/i] The same thing happened to me last year, using Verizon. I had to convince Verizon that Jamaica wasn't remotely close to STJ. In hindsight, ...

Re: Parking at Newark

DonnaM: For a number of years we've been using ABC Parking, which is located just south of EWR on North Avenue in Elizabeth. Its very close to Exit 13A of the NJ Turnpike. Rate comes to around $9/day, provided you make a reservation in advance. GroupOn currently has a discount offer for a new parkin...
