Re: Can't miss snorkel

On our last trip we had a fantastic snorkel around the point on the west side of Peter Bay. We started off at Cinnamon, took a break on the beach at Little Cinnamon, then continued on. We came ashore again on the east side of Peter Bay. walked the beach to the west side, then snorkled out. There is ...

Rule #1: If it doesn't fit in the carry-on, you don't need it.

The University of Southern Mississippi has a reporting website set up to collect data on this phenomenon, if anyone is interested in reporting their sightings; http://www.usm.edu/gcrl/sargassum/ Reporting Site: Pelagic Sargassum in the Caribbean During 2011, massive quantities of pelagic sargassum o...

Re: Snorkeling experts, What is this?

Well, this piqued my curiosity so I've been googling. There are three species of damselfish that look very similar as adults, the Dusky, Cocoa and Longfin. There is also a certain amount of individual variation in color which makes ID even more difficult. But I am going to vote for Longfin based ont...

Re: Snorkeling experts, What is this?

I don't believe it is a stingray-like tail at all, I think it is a normal fish tail but the view is looking directly down on the top edge of it. The tail is curved towards the fan coral. The long thin part is the top edge of the fin. Moving towards the body from the tail tip, the point at which it s...

Re: Day sail

Wayward Sailor. http://www.waywardsailor.net/about/captain.htm Carries six passengers maximum so you would have the whole vessel to yourselves, and Captain Phil is an excellent snorkel teacher and a marine naturalist so he can teach you about what you are looking at. Also has excellent entertaining ...

Re: early october weather

Weather during our October trip (first - second week) was ideal. HIghs in the mid 80's, warm, calm water fofr snorkling. Rain, when we had it, came primarily at night, although we did have one or two late afternoon showers which lasted maybe 10 minutes or so. We bought trip insurance just in case. T...

Re: East End suggestions

We had one of the best snorkels of our trip last Agust at Hansen Bay. We parked off the side of the road where it runs right next to the shoreline. We snorkeled to the left out to and around pelican rock and back.

Re: quitting smoking cigarettes...

I just deleted a very long post detailing my smoking history of 46 years and my qutting, methods used and relapse history of 39 years. It was depressing and hopeless-sounding. Instead I will tell you what I have learned from my personal experience: Don't put it to your mouth, don't light it and you ...
