Re: Where is everyone?

Interesting that when you do a sort of the topics by number of views it yields 195 posts with greater than 10,000 views, but only 5 of them were started in 2010 or later. Some might recall that things got politically unpleasant here and off topic in 2008 and that might have chased some away, but thi...

Re: Check in at airport – AA rules and customs changes?

I'll go with the eyewitness replies in this thread. This link at AA.com only confirms the existence of self service check in https://www.aa.com/i18n/travelInformation/destinationInformation/stt-airport.jsp still curious if anybody has used the kiosks and/or are they few and far between (and as such,...

Re: Check in at airport – AA rules and customs changes?

OK all this is helpful - thanks. To be traveling on a return flight on AA Easter week, I really want to avoid whatever line we can (knowing that the checking in at the AA counter can be a slow painful thing), so planning to do carry on only with AA and go to the airport with boarding pass in hand vi...

Re: Check in at airport – AA rules and customs changes?

Much thanks Rick for detailed reply. Very helpful.

Pretty cool that you sailed over to Anegada - you've made that transition from landlubber to a legit member of that hard core sailing group over on TTOL!

Re: Check in at airport – AA rules and customs changes?

MB - yes, probably March if I can wrap my head around airfare >$650

Again - sorry if I am being dense about this - but - if you are flying AA and doing carry-on only and go to the airport with boarding pass IN HAND, does AA still somehow require you to get there hours beforehand?

Re: Check in at airport – AA rules and customs changes?

Thanks.
If one had your printed boarding pass and carry on only, would you still need to check in at the AA gate? You don't need to do that anywhere else on regular domestic flights...

Check in at airport – AA rules and customs changes?

Greetings all I think I saw here about American Airlines stricter check in rules and changes to customs process. What is the AA requirement? 1 ½ hours? Those that have been through it using AA – how does it work if you are not checking bags and have your boarding pass already printed (do they still ...

Re: Any ideas for flights from PHL

We are actually looking at using the "hidden city ticketing" maneuver where you do a walk away at the connecting airport. See http://www.economist.com/blogs/gulliver/2015/01/hidden-city-ticketing or http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/08/magazine/mag-08subversion-t.html As noted in the links, t...

Re: New Olympus TG-4 Camera

Very interesting what is now filtering down to point n shoots like this - besides the ability to shoot RAW, this camera comes with nice specs/features like wide angle 25mm at f2.0; HDR and live composite capability; and image stabilization with video.

Re: Airfare strategy for holidays

Even when looking at going down midweek and coming back on Mon 1/4 it isn't looking pretty, but not 4 figure ugly (yet). So I guess I'll see if we can wrap our head around $600 - $800

(Appreciate the feedback from other long time forumites... :D hope you and your families are both doing well!)

Airfare strategy for holidays

Greetings Considering NYE on the island. Never really flown to somewhere tropical over the holidays. Been watching the airfares from NYC area and even PHL for over a month now. They have not budged from somewhat tolerable prices with awful durations/connections (when you consider NS for us is only 4...

Re: Other Islands...Which one would you choose?

Looks like this airport may actually open sometime in the near future making travel to the Grenadines WAY easier. http://www.travelpulse.com/news/destinations/completion-nears-for-long-delayed-st-vincent-and-the-grenadines-airport.html As we get older, we seem much less tolerant of mega travel days ...

Re: Delaware Family Poisoned at Sirenusa!

Methyl bromide is a nasty, insidious chemical because of its lack of odor or immediate irritating properties at low concentrations, and because signs of exposure are often delayed. In severe cases of poisoning, recovery can be protracted, with persisting neurologic problems. The IDHL concentration (...

MB: I would be remiss if I didn't chime in with the other forum old timers and just say: NICE! And good for you. :D on the getting used to not working thing. Just wait til you hit the downhill side of 55 and you really start saying I've had enough and doing the "gazintas" (aka the math: 4 ...
