I had heard that there were ambulances heading out on the Northshore Road last week (we were on Island 3/19 - 3/27) We skipped Cinnamon on this trip because of the waves. I hope your fingers have healed. Vacation is not supposed to include "sustained injuries" unless you've had too much to...

STJ Trip Report Day 5, Easter Sunday

Day 5, Easter Sunday The kids are up early and they feast on Easter basket goodies for breakfast. The moms head out to the balcony with their morning coffee. The seas look calmer today and we decide to spend the day at Trunk Bay. The taxi arrives quickly (this should have been a warning) and we head...

Sea-nile - I just read your post on the OT forum - how very tragic. I can believe that the next few weeks are going to be incredibly difficult, as each day brings the realization that a loved one is really gone. Re "The Philly Factor" I was told by an airline employee that Philadelphia is ...

I think they closed Trunk on the 19th or 20th? I was thinking of you guys out on a boat, and glad that you're sailing part of the trip was over by then.

Loving your trip report, btw, and looking forward to more. They take (at least for me) a really long time to write/re-write.

STJ Trip Report days 3 and 4

Day 3 - Friday 3/21 We're in our usual spot - having coffee on the balcony, staring out across Pillsbury Sound, and trying to make a plan for the day. They have erected water barriers (two rows of them) on Cruz Bay Beach. There is still a lot of wave action in the harbor, though the tide has receded...

STJ Trip Report 3/19-3/27

STJ Trip Report 3/19-3/27 Day One - The Philly Factor and Oh My! I should have known better than to book a flight that included a change of planes in Philly, but I was wooed by the relatively early (1:44 p.m.) arrival time in STT. When we boarded the plane at Logan, I overheard the flight attendants...

Snorkelqueen - I just returned from 9 days on St John. The waves were large, some of the beaches were small (or even closed?)and the snorkeling was non existant for the first few days. However, it was warm, 78-84 degrees, and the sun came out (at some point) every day. I do prefer July for calm wate...

Exit Zero - Can you give me some more information on the "BIG North swell coming this week"?? We're arriving tomorrow and not renting a Jeep on this trip. Thanks! X-I like the "point" between Honeymoon and Solomon. Not as dramatic as Waterlemon, but beautiful beaches and nice sno...

My mom lived in Celebration until recently, and we spent more than a few March vacations at Disney. My son is 10 now, and he too is more of a science /nature kid, than a Disney kid. We loved Epcot and Animal Kingdom. I'm not sure if they're still showing it, but the Festival of the Lion King, at AK,...

Hey Jen

It sounds like opening night is stumbling distance from our Abode. If I can survive the 4 am departure to Logan and am still awake at 8 - I'll see you there!

We live in Rhode Island (the Ocean State) and I love the beaches of New England. I don't, however, have any desire to snorkel them. The fish just aren't pretty; there's nothing lovely looking about a Sea Robin or a Scup. But the sound of the surf makes my heart happy in either place. It's just happi...
