Re: ONE meal in St. John
If I had only one meal out, it would be at an authentic West Indian place. I recommend Sogo in Cruz Bay for a taste of real Caribbean food. It is also reasonably priced. I totally agree with the sentiment of eating an authentic West Indian meal. I can eat fine dining here at home any time, with my ...

Re: If you had the following criteria, where would you stay?
http://www.longviewvilla.com/LongviewVilla/Home.html The only criteria that it doesn't meet is the A/C in the main living space. We have stayed there the past two years, in July, and haven't needed A/C to cook or hang out in the family room. The views, privacy, pool, convenience to town. easy drivew...

Re: We are family tour - day 3
Glad to see that video! My wife and I were there on Francis with your guys that same morning, we chatted with Jim about the experience and you guys told us where to look for the octopus. We were sitting by ourselves down toward the end of the beach where you all were set up. Nice to see you here on ...

Re: Coming Back! Need Villa help
We have stayed at LongView the past 2 years, which is just below Andante. In my opinion, that area of the island is ideal. You can hear the surf of Hart Bay, there's plenty of privacy, and you're a very easy drive into Cruz Bay. The point where Andante is located provides for all day sun, which make...

Mooie's is selling two Carnival shirts plus a tote bag for $25. They are located on the corner when you come off the ferry.

Re: ideas for july 4th?
Just be aware that the north shore road will be closed for the parade. If you're out at the beaches and want to get back into town, you'll have to go up and over using Centerline Rd. The parade is fun to watch, and the festival village is really hopping later in the evening. Get some good local food...

Re: july 4th arrival issues
We arrived on July 4th for our honeymoon back in 2011. If I recall, we caught the 2pm ferry from Redhook and into Cruz Bay as the parade was winding down. We had no issues getting out of town via Centerline as it was open above the roundabout. I don't think you'll have any issues getting over to the...

Re: Thoughts on Arc du Soleil or Stillwaters?
I see that Arc du Soleil does not have A/C at all, where Stillwaters has central air. That would tip my preference toward Stillwaters. Even though we live in the South and are used to heat and humidity, I can't sleep well without A/C in warm weather. Just my $0.02. No AC? Wow, I have looked at that...

Re: Is this a huge mistake?
I'd book it, but only if I wanted to spend the night in San Juan after missing my connection. I'm surprised the airline would consider this a valid connection in the first place. Keep in mind that they usually close the doors 10 minutes prior to departure, so that's really only 16 minutes to connect...

Re: If you could split your trip
I used to vacation in the BVI regularly before transitioning to St John. This year my wife and I are going to spend 2 nights on Tortola before our weeklong stay on St John. We're staying in Cane Garden Bay to be close to restaurants and nightlife. We're renting a jeep and I'll show her all around To...

Re: Ferry to Tortola from St Thomas - need recommendations
The ferries to Tortola leave from Charlotte Amalie. Don't worry about which company is best, just get a ticket on the next ferry that's leaving. And also, don't trust what they tell you at the ticket counter, wait until you see a specific ferry come to the dock before you buy your tickets. The count...

Re: BVI..Baths..Soggy Dollar Trip
As of last summer, John Brandi of Palm Tree Charters doesn't offer the Bath's as a destination. It's probably worth checking directly with him to see if that information is still correct. But if you want a trip to Norman Island, the western side of Tortola, and Jost Van Dyke, they do an awesome job ...

Re: Who is your favorite jeep rental company?
We've used C&C the past 3 years and have a reservation with them for this summer as well. Their Jeeps have a little "character" and aren't brand new by any means, but that just adds Island Character in my opinion :). We've never had any issues with the vehicles and the staff is nice en...
