What a saga!! It's all worth it when you get there though...
Looking forward to your usual excellent photos.

Re: Fresh Produce?
I've never figured out how to get to Josephine's yet . But think I would give it a try. :D It's easy! After turning right into Coral Bay you will come to an area where Pickles is on your right, Love City Mini Mart is ahead of you, and a left turn brings you to Aqua Bistro/Shipwreck Landing. Just ke...

Re: Fresh Produce?
There is a woman who sets up in front of Connections Cruz Bay most days who sells fruit. She typically has bananas, pineapples, mangoes (a few kinds), papayas, plus avocadoes and maybe a few more things I am forgetting. She also sells hot sauces and spicy peppers. In the summer she has genips. I hav...

Re: Polar Bear Cooler
I pack my polar bear cooler on a scale to be sure I don't go over the weight limit. I have one of every size plus the backpack. The largest cooler is as old as dirt and has been on at least 20 trips flying plus uncountable road trips. I don't pack it into another bag, and it 's still holding up fine...

Fire worm. Do not touch, they will sting you. I saw so many more of those than usual when we were down a few weeks ago. Not sure why.

Re: 10 more days in paradise--the full report
Nice! Some great rainbow and UW shots, and so many food shots LOL with fine use of ambient light -- you have pretty steady hands to shoot those low light shots... More luck than anything else, I think. I have gotten OK at low light restaurant food photos, but still have trouble with anything moving...

10 more days in paradise--the full report
John and I are back from a lovely 10 day visit to St. John. We split our stay between Caneel Bay and Gallows Point. It was a quiet trip for us, with less exploring around the island, less snorkeling (the water feels too cold to me in the winter), less time on the North Shore thanks to swells that pe...

Re: BillVT’s Trip Report: The Zoot
Thanks for the review of Zootenvaal. I don't think I have ever seen a review here for that before. Every time we drive by it catches my eye--especially the ocean side cottage. We hit the spring break crowds this time too, which I thought was kind of crazy. We went to town one night to go to dinner, ...

Re: trip report feb. 28-march10
Skinny Legs being discovered?? STJ has been discovered for years now and the internet amplifies that a hundredfold. I had lunch at Caneel Bay on Monday and was fortunate to get a table! The parking lot was crammed with shiny rental jeeps and the clientele resembled Walmart fashionista...

Re: Been away A LONG time! But coming back 'home!'
Hi gardengal, I was at Caneel Bay last week. Some of the rooms have been completely renovated, specifically the premium beachfront rooms, which are rooms 64-86. Of course, that is the most expensive room category! As you know, you are mostly paying for the access to the beaches and grounds. The snor...

Re: Wine & Cheese
Your best bet for both fine wine and gourmet cheese is Island Cork or Starfish Gourmet. Be prepared to pay more than you do at home. There are much better values for your dollar on European wines. American wines are vastly overpriced on the island. I'm guessing it is a distributor issue, but am not ...

Re: What's new in 2017?
Just got back yesterday. Gibney was open for visitors all but one day that we went by. The swell was up for most of our trip so we did not visit this time. Restaurant stuff not mentioned yet: Aqua Bistro has a new chef and new menu and it is an improvement in my opinion. There is a new food truck pa...

Re: Morgan's Mango
Thanks everyone! We are here now (and the weather is lousy today/this evening which is why I am online instead of outside haha). Morgan's ultimately did not make it into our final meal reservations, but we are back for two weeks this summer, so maybe then... PS: I was wearing a sweater while walking...

Re: Posting pictures from Iphone
Unless something has changed, I don't think you can post photos directly to a thread from your phone. I have always had to upload my pictures to a hosting site (I use flickr) and then copy the code into my trip report. If you have a tumblr account you can post to the VIOL tumblr and it will show up ...
