Myra Keating clinic is about two miles up Centerline Road. It is just past Gifft Hill Road on the Left. It sits a bit up on a hill and is not easily seen from the road, probably why you never noticed it. There is always a doctor on staff or on call. They also have a helipad for major emergencies tha...

You cannot drive 'straight' from the one way road that leads to the ferry dock where Connections front door is faced. This is a one way/do not enter, posted with signs and you can be ticketed. You cannot park in the spots at the ferry dock entrance that are marked 'BUS' or 'POLICE' You cannot park i...

Looks like the stores are exempt... here is an article on the St. John source saying 'Distilled liquor and “drinks prepared therewith shall not be served in public places of refreshments” between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Good Friday” That kind of sounds like beer and wine are ok too. I gues...

I am not sure what the written law is regarding car seats and kids in the USVI. I can tell you that you often see kids of all ages unrestrained bouncing around in the back of the car. I often see people holding their babies in the passenger side of the front of the car as well. Not something I recom...

You will see the most closings in September. You will see some closings as early as August and the re openings through October. So yes, may restaurants will be closed. A handful of retail shops will close, and almost everyone has reduced hours (with the exception of grocery stores). There is some at...

If you really want to watch the game without a whole lot of distraction, The Fish Trap is probably going to be your best bet. They have an inside bar with a handful of tables, and a great big TV. It's not a big 'party' bar, and it's away from the regular dining room. High Tide also plays sports on t...

Nothing there still :( I thought it was a great spot, would love to see the restaurant and golf open back up. It would be tough in this economy, and it is no longer a 'turn key' operation at this point I'm sure. It would probably need a lot of work ($$$$) to get it looking good and running well again.

The balcony seating is on two sides, street side, and the entrance side overlooking the small courtyard in front of Jewels/Royal Caribbean. They do have a divider of sorts placed between the tables outside and entrance to give it some division. I think they can fit 3 or 4 at the tables on that side.

Yes, they are a pretty tough tuber! When we grill them the outside 1/4 inch or so gets very burned and black. When we eat them, we just cut them in half and use our forks to scoop out the inside. They are one of my favorites! People do boil or steam them (after peeling them) but they don't take near...

Yes, you can Adobo at St. John Spice. You can also get it at any of the markets here. It's a pretty popular seasoning for locals.

You'll have to let me know how it turns out! Do a google search for 'west Indian sweet potato' and look at the images. You can see what they look like so you know what to get when you are here. They have them at Dolphin, usually Starfish, and Pine Peace Market. They have a wonderful texture and are ...

For fresh caught local fish, you can check by Nature's Nook (across the street from National Park Visitor Center) in the afternoons. Local fishermen sell their catch there or near the post office. Just look for guys sitting with big white coolers. The catch will vary...smaller fish and larger fish. ...
