Part of my family stayed at Crystal Seaview last December. I have also stayed at Vistaero. Seaview is HUGE - lots of rooms and bedrooms are enormous. Another plus (for me) was that it was really close to town. That said, Vistaero has the most amazing views and a great breeze (but those roads make th...

We stayed at Hawksnest in Feb 2009. The place has one of the best views on the island. The deck is wonderful - from breakfast right through stargazing. We didn't have any problem with bugs - though the bats made themselves right at home some nights! I didn't miss the A/C at all. The location is also...

We had the same forecast for the 4 days I was there. It did rain for a few hours one day - and it was not crystal clear the whole time; but overall we had plenty of great weather!!! 8)

99 - Short version is that they were really not a "help" at all. For example, they missed the "rehearsal" at Cinnamon and then tried to claim that we either weren't there or were swimming and drinking beer so could not be located. I can testify that there were 30 of us; fully clo...

LuLu - I did not think of that aspect of it; though I always have at least my 6 with me - so I probably fill the cab without having to wait.

Either way - it is just an FYI so that no one is surprised.

Musings on a really short trip - and an FYI on hiring Rachel

I just returned from a whirlwind Thursday-Monday run from Boston to STJ. A wonderful trip for my sister-in-law's wedding. There were a lot of us traveling. We rented 3 villas up on Roman Road (near the Westin) - Seagrass Cottage, Crystal Seaview and Tre Vista. High Points: Got to finally meet Ruth w...

Is Paris Car Rental up the street from the new Chinese Place

Trying to remember how to get there! Is it up that road across from the Customs office parking lot where the Chinese restaurant went opened last year? Someone mentioned it's near the St John Inn - but that doesn't ring a bell.

Hi Gromit! I'm not sure about the 5:30 CA ferry - will separately post that question! Thanks for the tips on the car issue. I have rented from a different company the prior 5 times. I need a "safari truck" this time - so my only option was Paris - hopefully I can work something out. We are...

Thanks Toes! The two things tugging on me are that 1) the sun sets at just after 6 - so we would miss it if we take the CA ferry and 2) I am supposed to pick up my rental car on STJ . . . not sure they will be open beyond 6. Do you guys think I could make the 5:00 at Red Hook??

Which Ferry?

My flight gets in this Thursday at 4:20 p.m. Is it worth trying to get to Red Hook or should I just go to CA and catch the 5:30? I am using Rachel - NO CHECKED LUGGAGE.
