Re: BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT ST JOHN
I think it all depends on luck and your expectations really. I personally am partial to October and May/June visits but we have never run into extended periods of bad weather during our visits. October we love (and will be going back this year during that time) because it is not crowded, the water t...

Really great photos and thanks for sharing. Learning where to look to see these amazing animals in the water of St John is quite a skill. Still trying to master that one.

Re: The reason behind when you go to STJ
We also primarily go based upon school schedules but here in NC we happen to be on a year round school schedule, so we have 3 weeks off in October, January, April, and July. We love it that we can plan family vacations during non-peak times. We are headed back to "The Rock" in October this...

Re: Polar Bear Cooler on Delta any problems?
So I guess the way to use these coolers is to fill it full of frozen meat and carry the cooler on? Let it go through x-ray and what about any issues with carry on weight limit? Not that anyone has ever weighed my carry on bag. I guess you could check one as well up to 50lbs? Thanks. Todd

Re: Reef Bay hike with kid
How hard and how long is the hike from Little Lameshur up to the petroglyphs and the reef bay house ruins? Is it possible (and easier) to check out the highlights of the Reef Bay hike that way? Can the sugar mill ruins be included from this way as well? Is it easier for children than the steep downh...

Take a look at Fun and Contentment on the Coral Bay Hillside. We stayed there in 2011.

Re: How long could you stay?
Our longest trip has been 2 weeks which for me is just about right but my wife could stay a month or more. She never gets tired of the St John beaches. A week is way too short and 10 days is good but I also feel like I didn't get to do something I wanted to. 12-14 is ideal I think. Villa and Rental ...

Re: Just booked!!
I just booked for early October and can't wait to go back to STJ. American Airlines lowered fares today (at least from Raleigh, NC) and got tickets for $400 RT. They have been fluctuating between $400 and $440 today depending on day and flights but again this was for October.

We just got back for STJ and we rented from Amalie for the first time. The pickup and drop off at the airport is so great. Getting my luggage from the carousel and having to drag it a few yards into a car was ideal. Off we went to the car ferry. On the way back we called Amalie and they met us at th...
