Snorkeling the cays around STJ

Post by KenJ »

My wife and i have snorkeled the cay at Cinnamon Bay.Waterlemon Cay, and the rocks at the entrance of Salt Pond. I was wondering what other cays a person could snorkel either from shore or by kayak. Thanks..

We thought snorkeling around the cay at Trunk Bay was pretty good; not as good as Waterlemon, but much better then just the snorkel trail at Trunk.

I was also going to say Trunk. If you go beyond the end of the snorkel trail, the cay has lots of nice coral and we saw tons of varied fish. The right side isn't as good as the left side in my experience.

One of the best snorkeling experiences I had was at Flanagan Island off the Coral Bay side of St. John, but it's only accessible by boat. It was one of the stops on a daysail we took on the Breath in December, and the snorkeling was fantastic.

I've snorkled the rocks at the entrance to Salt Pond and it's great out there - just a long swim.
