If I had to guess, I would say that the barb probably severed his aorta, and when he removed the barb, he died almost instantly from blood loss. I haven't been able to figure out if it was a gentle way for him to go or not, but I do know the world is a lot less wonderous without his enthusiastic personality in it. My condolences, to his father, widow Terri, Bindi, Bob and all who had the luck and grace to know his enthusiasm first hand.

Seriously, about stingrays

Post by FlaGeorge »

Seriously, about stingrays – Someone mentioned that they almost stepped on one. Twice a year, the stingrays are very active here on the west coast of Florida. We have a saying here, “Do the stingray shuffle.”. What you do is shuffle your feet in the sand as you enter the water. The stingrays will feel the motion and swim away.

Also, it’s not a bad idea to carry Ammonia or Hydrogen Peroxide – these are both very good for marine strings (stingrays, jellyfish, fire coral, sea urchins).
