Fresh Fruit??
Fresh Fruit??
Hi!
Where will we find the ripest, sweetest cantaloupe and pineapple?
We will be staying on Ajax Peak. (One week from today. Do I hear a "WooHoo"??) So, we will have access to both Cruz Bay and Coral Bay.
Should we just shop in Starfish Market for that? Or does anyone have any "local" advice for us?
Thanks all,
Sue

Re: Fresh Fruit??
I have bought local mangoes when they are in season from the "Our Market" next to Cool Breeze Car Rental. Delicious. I think they had pineapple there too but I did not buy one.
There is also sometimes a woman who sells fruits in front of Connections Cruz Bay, I think on Saturdays. Her stuff is good and if you tell her when you want to eat it (today, tomorrow) she will pick the best one out for you. I have bought papayas, mangoes, and breadfruit from her. All really sweet (well, not the breadfruit, but the breadfruit was a tasty side dish boiled and mashed with butter and brown sugar).
Finally, there is a truck on Centerline Road, on the right side as you are leaving town, that has good local fruits.
Starfish sells those plastic tubs of chunked up canteloupe, watermelon, and pineapple if you want to skip the hassle of prepping your fruits.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

My daughter claims they are the best smoothies on the island.
Is any island fruit in season right now?

We have found nice produce and fruit at the Dolphin market. I've also seen a couple of fruit stands when walking to Mongoose Junction. Also agree about Thomas' smoothies, they are yummy!
