Chikungunya and mosquitoes

Post by Dgi »

Heading to St John next week...any cases of chikungunya in St John yet? How about the mosquitoes this time of year? Had enough rain recently to bring them out?

Yes, this virus is active in the Virgin Islands. A recent thread on this may be worth reading...

To my knowledge no cases have been reported originating in the states yet... there have been reported cases in Miami and Tampa and Boston with all patients getting the virus outside the mainland, many, if not all, in the Caribbean.
Protect yourself from bites! And... enjoy the islands!

Add central Texas to the list too. There is a man in the Roundrock area infected with it. He recently traveled to the Caribbean, but they haven't said where.
