Another Tropical Storm???
Another Tropical Storm???
Hi,
We are looking at a very last minute trip to STJ on Friday but it looks like a new tropical storm may be hitting both the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico by Fri/Sat.
Has anyone heard this? Since we would only be able to stay 3 nights...having two days of storms and then "bad water" may not be a good idea. Haven't booked air yet...seeing if there are any last minute deals!

Par for the course this time of the year. It's too early to tell if this will head close to the VI, or even develop into much of anything. My post for the VI's first storm of the season has links to follow the development of Invest 94L:

We're getting ready for our September sailing trip and subscribed to Crown Weather Service's paid forecast. Rob Lightbown of Crown Weather is predicting a Saturday approach, but does not narrow it down beyond "Lesser Antilles." Jeff Masters blog on wunderground gives a good summary. NHC has development in five days at 20%. Sounds like Bertha Bertha-lite?

The whole weather forecast approach seems be to run twenty weather models, let them vote on the probable outcomes, and have a smart guy like Rob Lightbown or Jeff Masters tell you what it means, with a healthy helping of "However, due to standard forecasting error, these forecasts cannot be guaranteed. Any action or inaction taken by users of this forecast is the sole responsibility of that user."
I don't give other people travel advice. But (here's some travel advice), we would go and be flexible if the weather gets moist. One of the risks of inaction is missing a good time.
Cheers, RickG

Thanks! I think finding reasonable airfare is worse than the possible weather at the point! Fingers crossed!

Invest 94L disintegrated today; you should be all set.
