Here's to Low Low Season!
Here's to Low Low Season!
This is our first time down in September. Between children being back in school, the start of fall being pretty nice back home, and it technically being storm season, the island is as quiet as it ever gets. There are few tourists, and even a lot of the locals are gone, using this downtime to visit folks on the mainland. It's almost creepy how quiet things are; probably like going back in time thirty or forty years. NHC is showing no storm activity, and it takes ten days to get from Africa to here, so no weather drama is in store. Sure, a number of restaurants are closed, and live music is hard to come by, but the beaches have plenty of room under the sea grapes, the waves are all of two inches high, and the days get no higher than the upper eighties. I haven't noticed any mosquitoes to speak of, and the weather is great, with gentle trade winds, deep blue skies, and cotton ball clouds. Oh, and did I mention the water temperature?
All the best,
Kevin

That sounds like heaven to me. I am hoping it's still like that in 25 days when we arrive!
Re: Here's to Low Low Season!
Was there last year at end of September and our first trip was at that same time. Longing for a return.

You lucky-duck!!!
You just described the perfect island.
It can be risky, but when it works out...priceless.

We were sailing the VIs the second week of September. The BVIs were empty. Cruz Bay was the most happening place we saw. Still, we were the only boat in the anchorage at Francis/Maho Bay and Caneel Bay the nights we stayed there.
Perfect weather!

Thanks for the post Kevin - it sounds wonderful! We are missing Coconuts
We went to the BVIs in October last year and had wonderful weather. We booked at the last minute, after checking the NHC to confirm no storms marching across.

If I go to: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ how can I check for developing storms?
