Question for locals

Post by Agent99 »

For those of you who live down there and perhaps work on another island, is there a local yearly ferry pass (or private service that you are aware of) that is more economical than paying the regular daily rate?

Edited to remove the question about BVI-USVI commute- does not make sense.

I have read that commuter passes are available between the USVI islands, just can't find info on the actual ferry sites.

I believe you can buy a monthly ticket book for the Cruz Bay - Red Hook ferry is you are a USVI resident, but that's all I've heard of in that area.

Yes, there is a monthly ticket book, and I think the fare is about half the regular rate. I forgot how many tickets are in the book, though.

Yup it's a book of 10 for 1/2 the regular rate. Makes it $3 each then :)

But they do expire so you need to use them within the allotted time i.e.: you can't buy a book of 12 and use them over the course of 12 months (or even 2 months)

Two side notes on this topic-
1. It costs $70 for a booklet and it expires in a month. For me it was only cost effective if I was going to STT two or more times a week.
2. You need local if to purchase one.
