Beautiful Coral Bay needs help

Post by tombradybetsy »

As you may have heard, a huge marina is being proposed for Coral Bay, with the goal of attracting mega-yachts. The proposed marina would take up most of the bay, with 1,333 pilings driven in to support massive docks. The entire character of quiet, peaceful Coral Bay would change, with high-end shops and condos being built on the hillsides.

The ecology of the pristine bay would be changed forever.

You can see a summary of this proposed marina at http://www.savecoralbay.com.

A large group of dedicated St. John residents and concerned visitors are doing whatever is possible to prevent this from happening. The St. John Coastal Zone Management Commission has voted to approve. The applicants need to receive further approvals from EPA, Department of Fish and Wildlife, Army Corps of Engineers, and the Virgin Islands Senate and Governor.

What can you do to help save Coral Bay?
1. Read about the marina at http://www.savecoralbay.com
2. Send a letter expressing disapproval. Email to coralbaycommunitycouncil@hotmail.com.
3. Pass the word on to others that we need help!
4. You can donate through a link on the website, but we need letters/emails right now.

Thanks, from concerned residents of St. John who need your help.
I will be rooting for the beloved Patriots again next year.
