I would suggest the ferry. We do this every year. You need to check in by 8am. They take you over and drop you off. We usually grab a cab to the Soggy Dollar Bar and the cab driver will pick you up to bring you back. We usually leave by 2:30 so we can grab a drink at Foxy's before walking back to the ferry.

Charter Captain Steve with RockHoppin' Adventures. Very reasonable and you have your own boat to do what you want. He will also take you to Little Jost which I didn't even know existed and make customs checkin a breeze. Boat pulls right up to the beach at Soggy Dollar and will stay as long as you want. And if the line for the famous pain killers is really long, just let Captain Steve get them for you as he has a way with lines. We have been on the big party boats, sail boats, water taxis, etc. and this was our favorite of them so far. If you have more than 6 in your party, go with another option. We had 5 and it was perfect. Actually worked out cheaper than the two other large party boat options.

Huge Kekoa fan for getting to JVD if you are looking for snorkeling and some beach bar time.

If you are looking for strictly exploring Jost, we would do the ferry and catch a taxi from the Ferry Dock to either White Bay or the other end of Jost where Foxy's Taboo and the bubbly pool are.

Better yet, take the ferry and rent a car from Abe's and explore ALL of the beach bars and the spine of Jost. the views from the top are fabulous! Make sure you are back in time to catch the afternoon ferry back to St John. :D
